Commuting set up recommendation for a skater?

Hi Guys, just joined this forum. I am a skateboarder and i'm looking at getting a longboard just for commuting and having fun with. I want something with a back kick and at least some hang over at the front so i can still ollie, manual and maybe even kickflip on it(not overly important). something around the size of a regular skateboard or a bit bigger, 33 to 38 at most. i was thinking maybe something along the lines of earthwing miniglider with indy 169's and 66mm wheels. i'd like a recommendation for a complete setup including brands if anyone can help me out. p.s i'm 71kg and 5"11. Thanks in advance

errrmmm comet ethos? its basically a big skateboard with kicks and stuff slap that onto indys and you should be happy

best solution to your woes is head over to your nearest store (aka a store on the right hand side of this page) and step on what they have and have a chat :) they should fix ya up

Ethos is a pretty rad board and will allow you to progress and go FAST if you choose to. There are a couple of single kick hybrids like it on the market now too. Alternatives are the double-kick Daddow Platypus or the less steezy Loaded Tan-Tien. These have flex though, so will limit the speeds you can be doing on them.

Thene there's always the option of bolting a kicktail extension onto a board.

As James said, head to a good specialist longboard shop to get the right complete setup and/or ask about these boards.

I got a Powell Peralta "Rose Bones" which has a 18 inch wheelbase (rather than 15)

Crails with stock moogs, and 60mm Retro Bertz. It gets the thumbs up from most people who ride it.

You could go Indys, I got these trucks in Brazil.

I just bought an Arbor hyrbid and its wildly impressed me every time Ive taken it for a shred, easily handling 50-60 kmph, big ollies, kick flips and even heel flips.  It has a shorter wheelbase then the Ethos, so its less stable at high speeds but a little bit more versatile if you have the gonads. Most 40 degree trucks will give you a really low ride height which you definitely need and look for wheels around 60-65mm, i rock 40 degree Gullwing Stalkers and Micro Metro Motions (63mm 83a or something) on my hybird

put longboard wheels on a street deck, easy fix
38 inches with a 21 inch wheel base

Comet ethos would be sick.

Youtube loaded newsletter: too much.

Thats a good example of it doing longboard stuff

I dont know about a kick, but the landyachtz carbon mummy is excellent for commuting and slashing around
nelson longboards mongrel or mutt (same but shorter wb) could be an alright option as well
switch 37. its rad. im 190cm and i ride it. a dropped riding platform but rides like a topmount quite stable. and aggresive and sexy concave and drops to keep you locked in. you can also nose manual and g turn it. such a fun cruisy board :) nte it is also called the spud. rad little board tho
