ASRA - Australian Skateboard Racing Association

Hey so I just got my Legal Studies task sheet for out latest assignment and its pretty much 'research any law you want and tell me about it.
So i decided i might look into doing the laws surrounding skateboarding.

I was wondering if anyone had any

1) Sections of the law which are relevant?
2) Actual cases of people being charged for skating 'offences'

3) Run in's with the police and what happened

4) Personal opinions about the laws surrounding skateboarding

I have started searching through the forums and net, its just i wanted to get fresh news and keep in in the one place :)

Thanks heaps!

what year legal is it?
I did an independent study last term (year 12) and had the same thought.
After doing a bit of research and talking it over with teacher and parents (lawyers) i went with some boring topic.

It seems like a good idea at first but if its for senior legal the teacher probably needs to get a bunch of criteria done. The skateboarding looks interesting but because there isn't actually any legislation or even passages of legislation specific to skateboarding it does make it a bit more difficult.

Just giving you a heads up that it might not be the easiest topic to actually do the assignment on.

But anyway, if you do want to do it, read up on the legal thread that is in the stickys. Robbo put some great information in there.
And there are a couple of lawyers on here that could probably give you some good ideas if they aren't tired/cbf.

Good luck.

It's year 12
Yeah thats what I was worried about there really isnt that much specific law and it would be hard to do.
Il do abit more research and talk to a few people but im kinda thinking il have to go with something else :(
Thanks anyway man!
he mainly want's peoples oppinions and personal run ins yes that shows the laws but read what he asked..

"A high level of hostility that has grown between police and skateboarders in contemporary society has led to conflicts and even resulted in non-verbal and visual abuse of police by skateboarders in some instances (English, M. 2011)."
