Are you trying to say that the only time anyone should skate may it be practise, racing is if there is a SAFE GSE event?

Your an idiot. Skatings skating. If someone didnt have any connection to ASRA and just we skating down hills what diffrence would it make, we dont need an external body to control when and where we skate.

Such a shame all the negative comments i know Andy and all people involved have got nothing but good intentions in their hearts. They have organised four legal events in one year providing a SAFE environment for everyone to race in. I am very surprised that ASRA and HOPKIN are supporting, encouraging and promoting illegal racing. If say ANDRA reported on and advertised illegal races on there site they would be shut down and if an accident occurred would definitely be involved in any lawsuit.
Come on bro, lets bring this back from direct name calling.

thank you finn.

petty bullshit isnt going to get anything positive done, luge does bring a fair amount to the table when it comes to our sport and we bring alot to luge, i dont see why certain people in the stand up community are trying to go out of their way to sepperate the sports, with out luge stand up wouldnt still be going today, its only recently when the shoe has been put on the other foot and there seems to be alot of resistance as of late to help our brothers out

Robert there is a difference between skating and racing. I skate regularly on roads footpaths and to think that i am saying you can't skate outside an event is stupid etc However when you invite people to a race you should be able to provide a safe environment for them to race in and if something happens you should have people trained to deal with an accident. It is a thing called DUTY OF CARE you probably don't understand this because you are too young. When you get home talk to your father about it ask him what is duty of care and explain the situation to him i am sure you will get a very similar response.

Sean meany needs to shut his face, you have no idea what you're talking about, no one wants to hear your opinion. -Tom W

You've gotta be joking!

thats bs
Does duty of care include race organizers starting fights with the people they invited to the event, grabbing people by the throat and trying to initiate a violent situation? Everyone is missing the point, it's not entirely about what happened, it's HOW it happened. The display that we saw from the event organizers was straight up appalling, and it's something that will never be forgotten.

People can birch and argue all they want, but something happened that was out of hand and it can't be taken back, it's there to stick and people know what's up

Having organised events where you need to obtain permission from local or state authorities, I found that they generally came with a few caveats.Ie: leave the place better than you found it, don't annoy anyone else, and don't do anything outside the area that has been allocated.

I imagine that Riff Raff had to negotiate with the local cops to get that section of road locked down for the event.

How easy would it have been for Riff Raff if the cops had accidently discovered an event that they were not prepared for, and after interviewing the participants of that event were able to link them to the event that had been planned.  Everyone needs to consider if such a thing could have caused a cancellation of the planned event, or an end to future events.

True, this time the event was not effected, could have been very good luck or very good politics, who knows.

Everyone of you that gets busted riding freeways, or dangerous roads, when you know that the local cops are already grumpy about what you are doing, are creating ripples in the pond that one day might be a tidal wave of new laws and penalties specially targetted at this sport.

On this topic it might an idea to take the heat out of it until we find out exactly what was at risk, although I expect that the relationships are pretty bruised on both sides now.

We should all also wonder why it is that there are so few that organise events.

Would i be naive in thinking that it might be possible that some people went to the event to cause trouble? After all GSE have been copping shit since they announced the series.
When in deep hole, it is generally a pretty good idea to STOP DIGGING.
You would be extremely naive to think that

Guff, there was nothing safe about this race, we rocked up to tech and were verbally andphysically abused and threatened, this should have never happened, there is never an excuse for violence no matter what happens. I was so surprised and shocked by this, we were all ready to walk out then and there. You guys weren't there, you couldn't understand, it was the shittiest way to start a race. As far as I see it we have been coroprative and passive, sakamoto stood up and slandered trav for half an hour blowing his horn, It was a total witch hunt. We skated a road an hour away, just q few mates on a safe road, we saw Maby 3 cars, we are all competant riders, there was never an issue of safety. The issue was apparently trav was told not to run the race but he did anyway. This makes trav the devil and the barstard responsible for the comming death of downhill. It's not like trav is doing anything positive for the sport anyway, moth and heelside don't count cause they don't include luge...

And the race...I'm used to riding rough roads, I'm from canberra, thing is we don't race on rough roads. This was supposed to be a 90 km/hr hill, thank God it wasn't or we'd all be dead! Was this a safe legit race?
I felt safer bombing a wide open piece of hotmix for sure.

And basic ohns dictates that when you put on an event you have water. Dudes sitting around in leathers waiting for hours dehydrating = win.

This whole race has left a sour taste in the mouth of crew, and I feel bad because it's a noisy minority that have fucked it. A lot of work and money goes into events and it's crappy when they go pear shaped. I'm against luge hate, there's plenty of rad dudes who luge Frick I have a mad time on a butt board myself it's just a shame that a few bad apples paint the rest of those guys in a bad light.
What gse are doing has the potential to be rad for the sport, we all want more events, but I think they really have to sit down let shit cool down and learn from the mistakes.
