while we are talking about cameras, Benny, you guys use the 7D right? What type of lens? a 70-300mm? or a fixed lens. And any thought on the 550D, seems like a good starting point (i already have an old rebel 2000 that i use at school/hiking)
Get the new 600D or the 60D if you can afford it. Gumtree has the 60D for $900 whereas jbhifi has the cheapest 60D body for $1200. Dont waste time on kit lenses, go all out and get a 24-105mm L lens and then a 580ex flash and your set forever. Totalling at about 2.6k you have an all round set up
Hey Thomas, Yes I have a 7D with a few lenses. At this stage, I have a couple 50mm primes, an 11-16mm, and a 24-105mm. 550D is a good starting point for sure, I wouldn't recommend throwing down huge amounts of cash on higher-end bodies or lenses until you know it will be worth while. Having an expensive camera and top quality glass won't make you a guru film maker. The video features on the 550D are basically identical to that of the 7D. If you get cheaper gear and out-grow it, then you can always upgrade.
