ASRA - Australian Skateboard Racing Association

One of my son's friends that was at Grom School. 13 years old. Wants to buy a Landyachts. He is asking what board and setup would be best for him. He wants an alrounder. Downhill, carving, sliding, etc. He is full on and doesn't hold back. He is thinking of a 9 two 5 from Hop Shop. Or if anyone has a decent second hand board for sale that fits the above.

If he can do what he did at Grom School on the Skateboard Express board he has now. He will be ripping on a good setup.

In fact most of the groms had cheap boards and were ripping shit. So a good board, especially good wheels, would make a big difference for them.

Thanks for your help.

I personally own a Landyachtz 9two5 and it was my first board. It is a tank all round, maybe a little heavy for him, but it can take anything you throw at it; sliding, carving, commuting, downhill and with a good wheel and truck setup it will blow his mind.

let go for business time! it will slowly but surely buff up his carrying arm :)

highly reccomended, the 9two5 is

dropspeed will be very heavy for a 13 year old.

grom race?

Dropspeed

Also on the 9two5, if he wants to run 72mm + wheels, he needs Bear 852's. Im not to sure why thats just the way Landyachtz made it.

Thanks for your replies. I will let him know a 9two5 is a good choice. Doesn't matter if it is a bit heavy. Probably better it is. He destroys most things. He is full on.

my 925 is set up with 42 randals and otang inheats .......im 60 kgs never had wheel bite
Is he using that black dropped through board from skateboardexpress? That is effectively a copy of the LY drop wedge. With quality trucks it's a pretty good freeride board anyway. Switching to a 9to5 would be easy to do if he's used to riding a dropthrough.

Nah. That's my son on the Vault Dropthrough. Got him some yellow zig zags off Uan from this site. It is the kid on the Psycho Snapper.

Boards from Skate express are OK. But the Snapper hasn't taken the abuse well and the other kid on the Vault Dropcarve snapped his Vault dropthrough at the front where it has a weak point. Although, some of the new boards look pretty good. For groms anyway. No good if you are racing. But a decent start out board. Especially for the parents! Not too dear. Especially if they skate for a few months and give it up.

What about the Landyachtz Spud or Grom Race.  I believe they are designed for little Groms!
