calling legal eagles !
This morning i was pulled up by 2 coppers tellin me that i gotta get off my board when crossing the road at the set of lights even when the walk signal is displayed (which i always wait for and cross it every day of the working week (luckily mon-fri atm) , its on the gc highway in front of southport on the goldy.
They then proceeded to tell me that they see me skating across the Sundale bridge every morning ( which is b4 the trafiic lights ) and that i should dismount to cross the bridge ?? wtf ? its a shared bike/ walking track and the only signs there say that "cyclists should give way to pedestrians .
Was then told that id had an official warning and if i was caught again i would be issued with a fine.
I called the local council this afternoon and no-one there could tell me about the local laws in that area , p.s im not skating inside a cbd area .
Anyone with experience in this type of shit let me know , for f*cks sake , im just tryin to get to work !!!!

dont quote me on this, but im pretty certain that if your on a sidepath your classed as a pedestrian, on or without a skateboard, which gives you complete permission to share it with other pedestrians.

yah thats what i thought , its only common sense that we give way to walkers (pedestrians lols) , but i couldnt find any laws in particular about crossing over streets under lights ( stop lights i mean and walk lights aka intersections outside of local cbd areas , so if the law isnt written down , how the hell do you defend your actions ? or do you just suck it up and move on , but in my case i take the same route to work everyday , and i feel im not doing anything wrong

I'd say that you can only cross a road on a skateboard if it's legal for you to skate on that road in the first place.
Even cyclists are legally required to dismount when crossing a road from a shared cycleway/footpath, which is ridiculous, but true.

i was of the understanding that you could cross the road just to get from one foot path to another in the most direct route , but i couldnt find that law in printed form also , i guess it was a myth not a fact

must not travel on a road at night but you may cross a road while riding your wheeled recreational device by the shortest route (if you need to ride at night, you can ride your wheeled recreational device on a footpath)

im not paying a fine for an infringement that the legal secretarys on wheels with guns "THINK" in writing that i committed , fuck that , ill skate to work everyday and do the same thing , cause as i am currently aware im not doing anything wrong .and its not as if i havent done any research so good luck to the fuckers that say that ignorance is no excuse

Australian Road Rules stat small wheeled recreational devices are permitted to skate on footpaths.
Skating in bikepaths is fine, but not sure on about the bikelane on the road.
being told to dismount and walk across the bridge is stupid, print out some Aus road rules from the site and when approached again present the papers, i did that and they were powerless
