ASRA - Australian Skateboard Racing Association

Hey there. Just signed up and figured i'd put myself out there. Been longboarding for 4 months now (mainly commuting to uni, riding some gentle hills around the area). Any melbourne riders out there? Really keen on starting dh one day once I've saved enough to get the proper gear :)

Welcome aboard Ching. I'm not a Melbournian myself but I thought I'd say hey and I'm sure are quite a few Melbourne people around here.
Plus it's always good to have another longboarding chick on the forums :P

Next week theres a bit of a combined Tues/Wed sess for the crews to say merry farkeen xmassss, would u like a beer? both nights at newport, exact details a worked out on the forum.
Have a squiz, see what interests you, what part of town are you from?
Wayne.
hey guys. i live in carlton just a little out of the city. signed up at the forum just waiting to be approved :) looks like a pretty big community there. for some reason i find it really hard to find melbourne riders they're always hiding somewhere. so what exactly do you guys do at your sessions??
Hi Ching,
The Tues and Wed night sessions are usually at a different skatepark/bowl every week, some of the guys have lights and bring them along, gold coin donation to keep the fuel up.
Different parks have got more or less to ride, like Newports got a bowl and a nice tranny area but Fitzroys really only got the main bowl,(and a baby bowl).
The Sunday a.m guys ride bowl mainly, Sunday arvo guys(me) do slalom, giant slalom (like carving), bit of downhill.
I started with Moss late last year and found everyones out for a good time and a laugh, heaps of encouragement and help with setups and how to ride better, and a lift if you need one.
Main thing, remember what your parents told you,
Dont leave home without protection!
Psc have got a sale on at the moment in Swanston st they've still got a heap of protec classic helmets and protec pads, so get some on.
Wayne.
nice...might just check out one of the sunday sessions once my wrist gets a bit better. not exactly a bowl skater.
Broken ankle yeh that might slow you down a bit,
but a sore wrist? come on........everyone will call you a girl :)
Check out the battle wounds thread, thats a good motivater not to take a dive!

Dunno about the weather tomorrow check out charlie to see if its on in the arvo,
i should be going over for a couple of hours, just have to drop the kids off 4 babysittin on the way.
Wayne.
haha yeah i didnt think a sprained wrist would bother me much but took another awkward fall few days ago and now its back to square one. being extra cautious now considering i start work next week! stalking charlie as we speak!
Anyone from melbourne watching and waiting,
You all missed a great day at Monash today,
3 hours of 4 storey multi level carpark, then some GS then tight cones.
DaBear.
