ASRA - Australian Skateboard Racing Association

Are there any flyers / pamphlets / posters to advertise ASRA?

I ask as I live in Mt Lawley, WA (Inner city suburb in WA) and see heaps of people long boarding around (3 went past my house yesterday while I was having a beer on my veranda). However, none wear helmets or gloves and few seem to be aware (just watching them ride) that there can be more to long boarding then just cruzing down a hill without breaks. Ive seen a few get into trouble when cars pull out, and they often overshoot their turn offs and walk back up the hill.

I figure that If there where some posters or flyers, then I could drop them off / put them up at the relevant cafes and shops.

I think this could bring some good publicity to the sport and let people know ASRA is out there!

Thoughts?

A great idea Shannon!

There are probably a million people with longboards who don't know about ASRA. It would be great to do more to get the word out there. Perhaps what ASRA can do is create some flyers that members can print off and distribute in their community.

In the next few months I think you will see a ramp up in ASRA activity!
Youth Centers - perhaps not. Just poster walls in relevant cafes and shops that have a number of long boarders in the area (But yeah, your getting the idea).

I reckon that 4 a week (replacing them every week is necessary due to "poster wars") would do the job nicely in my area.
Many moons ago I used to put up posters in cafes and shops for a living, so I think I have a general Idea of how to do it :)
why not youth centres?
Write "skateboardracing.org.au" in chalk on the pavement outside your house, and on any hills that are used.....
Facebook has advertising relevant to peoples interests, maybe give that a shot?
Sorry, my intention was not to say, hey, how do we market ASRA.

My Intention was to say, hey is there an ASRA approved poster or similar available that I can put up at some relevant places in my local area.
The short answer is no, the long answer is its been talked about at length and has been on the agenda for a while
great idea.
