hey kyle..its great to see you are getting into downhill..we skate around the golide and vegas most weekends so if you get down this way we can show you a few things and get you doin your spins in no time..
as for gear the guys have pretty much said most of it,id recomend randals r 2's for entry level trucks just bail those bushings they're crap..green big zigs or even gumballs..wheels wont make that much difference just yet until you learn how to use them..wheels dont come with bearings but any new set will roll just fine for you until your ready to push the limits...thebiggest thing is a good helmet bro..get yourself a downhill mtn bike helmet and take the vissor off and they make a descent first lid...or even a moto helmet to start aero isnt mportant just yet..protecting your head is..
give us a yeall when your keen to roll and well get out for a session...
hey thanks for the advice and offer, i have found the strikers that kooky was talking about.
i kno this may sound noobish but wat are bushings
this is my set up so far
LANDYACHTZ EVO 2008 LONGBOARD SKATEBOARD DECK - SPEEDBOARD
RANDAL 180 LONGBOARD SKATEBOARD TRUCKS
BONES REDS SKATEBOARD BEARINGS
(just need wheels)
they are the rubbers that go in the trucks bro..give me a yel when your geard up and we can get you into some of our local hills..
does my set up sound alrite
ok this is the setup for me and my bro
LANDYACHTZ EVO 2008 LONGBOARD SKATEBOARD DECK - SPEEDBOARD $260.00
RANDAL 180 LONGBOARD SKATEBOARD TRUCKS $76.00
BONES REDS SKATEBOARD BEARINGS $23.99
ABEC 11 STRIKERS LONGBOARD SKATEBOARD WHEELS 77MM 81A $84.99
ABEC 11 RETRO BIGZIGS LONGBOARD SKATEBOARD WHEELS 75MM 83A LEMON YELLOW $90.99

what did you mean with 35* and 50* thin with the trucks
dude ur spending more than $500 now...
get urself a nemesis from hopkin.com.au we can set it up with Bear Girzzleys 52deg front and 40deg back trucks and Orangatang in Heats 80a with bones reds bearings and free griptape, free nuts n bolts and free shipping for $485.. now thats a killer setup for DH and you can carve that baby around town if you loosen the trucks.

The bear girzzleys have two different angles for the trucks, 52deg for the front truck for more turn and 40deg for the back for more stability... also you can 'flip' the hangers to minus 10deg from the turning radius and make them even more stable... i would have to say the grizzleys are by far the best entry level downhill truck out there.
theres more info on them on the landyachtz website.
i wouldn't recommend strikers for ur first downhill set-up. they are more of a free ride wheel. stick with the bigzigs.
other than that, its looking good. are u getting a board each or one to share? cos if ur getting one each maybe u should get one evo from boardstore and one nemisis from hopkin.
were getting one each
so i think i will stick to the bigzigs like you said
do the decks when you buy em will they come with griptape
i think we both have our hearts set on thwe evo
evo's almost always will, but with some boards it depends on the seller. there is usually the option.
can't find any 75mm bigzigs will 70mm be ok
and can't find any speedvents
