ASRA - Australian Skateboard Racing Association

on sunday my "crew" had our first session, this didnt turn out so well, while teaching one of them to get into a descent tuck, he nailed it going about 40 when he tried to move his feet to turn, this made him fly off his deck and send his brand new demonseed straight into the kurb, the top of the board is cracked but we got some tape and araldyte and made a hard mould around the crack, anyway, after this ordeal i was taking them to another sik hill when my other mate decides he wants to carve in this carpark on the side of the road, he goes in and then realises that he cant come back out, he then bails over a 40cm ledge at the end and snapps his wrist, i come over and hes groaning, "are you alright man, "uhhh, is my board alright." was the first thing he said cos he has a new hellcat, he ended up with a completely shattered wright wrist after we took him to the hospital, it was pretty gross, like almost coming out of the skin and you could see the bone poking up. so what did we achieve with our first sess, a broken board and a broken arm, all in a days work..................

btw, ive been riding a dropdown 40" off ebay and im getting a new board , the demonseed feels way too unturnable wheras the hellcat seems sick but a little highish, i was thinking of getting the avenger and just learning the ways of the topmount but does anyone have a better alternative, i was also thinking about the ly drop speed...
i have a demonseed and drop speed.

drop speed is a pretty awesome board for freeride, awesome for sliding, carparks, a bit of bombing. although i do prefer my demonseed for dh. drop speed doesnt feel as stable. demonseed is awesome for dh. very very stable, but may be too big for you, depending on ur size and tuck.

i would recommend maybe a nemesis, bit smaller than the demonseed, more manouverable. try em all out though, see what one you like best. come to the hill climb session this weekend, and youll get to try out every single rayne dh board, sayshun boards, glydes, landyachtz boards, and everything
im like 173cm, i weigh like 69-70 and i play rugby, im not exactly the model skater...
depending on ur tuck, drop speed could be pretty good with some bears and big zigs/in heats, and venom dh.

i got used to it after about 15 minutes of riding, it just seemed really weird to do standups on at first,
hey i'm a 179cm 78kg, does that mean i"m not a model skater lol
when i first started longboarding, it was on a mates dropdown deck, langley's, and when i got my top mount it scared the crap out of me, about how high it was and how i thought i was going to get speed wobbles all the time, but now i hate drop down decks, well not hate but more prefer topmounts, any ways trust me, your better off learning on a topmount first, trust me, i've got a sayshun 'speed' deck with randal 42's and venom barrels, and i hit 85max on it, not even a hint of the wobs... and, wow man, it's better than my mates avenger. well so they say..i found that sliding is alot easier to control, and you can get a top mount to grip when you want it too...like predrifting then railin corners and such..so yeah, don't be afraid of a top mount bro...
Yeah probably,

awsome
I started on a small Z-Flex, got up to about 60km/hour, now riding a dropthrough DH board. Starting on a top mount makes it sooo much easier to learn things on a lower deck.
i think some people in this thread may be misjudging their speeds. ;\
Lol, I did it on the large hill on milton road, on my way into the city. You should try it, but you have to do it inbetween traffic flow at about 2am...
