This video is one of the many examples of exactly what it says in the sub heading skating has evolved, like back in the mid to late 60s skating was only know to others as another passing kiddy fad like the yoyo or the hula hoop, only the most determined and hardcore enthusiasts progressed in the sport and made it what it is today. This is also like what Leigh said, DH skating is still young and the sponsors are still small DC has been around for like 17 years, and brands such as DC have the income to do this type of production as they are a street style and street inspired clothing company. There product has a much bigger impact on modern day society, e.g. everyone needs clothes, youth of today want cool in fashion clothes. DH skateboarding (adrenaline pumping dangerous action sport).   (but props to the video it was rad)

Well said leigh, very true man. Some of those tricks are DOPE though regardless of production. How's the giant nollie kickflip over the railing. He lands it so plush....must have been ultra satisfying.

No shit, ey? Didn't think this one would cost that much. Assumed it was expensive but not that expensive.

I watched a snowboarding doco in Finland which was mostly shot from helicopters. It was farkin' wild! Would of cost a fortune!

a doco put together by one man along with some really cool cinematography (main expense) is a far smaller production than something like this. production wise, the only thing that makes DROP the best downhill skateboarding project to date is the Porsche crane and helicopter shooting. we haven't seen anything like that in the longboarding world so far, so for us its fucking awesome. but compared to other sports, its nothing. look at pro snowboard and mountain bike films, the budgets for some of the videos i've seen are huge and they have big production crews backing every shot.

but of course, longboarding is still young and the sponsors are still small, so the projects won't get to this caliber until the industry becomes "all about the money".

drop employed a hand full of people to shoot it compared to what that would of taken, to shoot something like that your talking a big camera team, big lighting team, set design and construction teams, data wrangelers etc etc etc. with days taken to shoot a few minutes of footage. Drop was a doco, while it used the same camera it is not quite the same level of production as that when it comes to crew and effort involved, considering with drop they where shooting quite a few minutes of footage a day compared to this.
