Over the weekend of November 26-28, a unique event will take place at Bathurst's Mount Panorama, Australia's leading sporting venue. Newton's Nation will welcome revelers to the mountain and play host to three days and two nights of world class downhill racing and action sports, featuring competitors from across the globe – all to the tune of some of the best bands and DJ's in the country.

Newton's Nation 2010 is Australia's premier gravity racing event. Skateboarders and lugers will compete on a 1.3 km course starting from Skyline at the top of the iconic Mt Panorama circuit, and finishing on Conrod Straight. Competitors reach speeds of over 100km/h while racing on what is one of the most intense and technical racing tracks in the world.

Alongside the extreme action Newton's will have an impressive lineup of top Australian acts over the three day festival. Featuring live rock, hip hop, dance and Indie artists on the main stage and DJ towers spread throughout the festival, you can dance, krump and mash it up from dawn till dusk. Nowhere in Australia has this combination of action sports and live music come together in such a sensory overload.

Newton's Nation is the mecca for action sport and live music, fusing music, action sports, visitor interaction and camping together to produce a truly unique Australian festival.

For more info about the festival and to buy tickets to the biggest event on the IGSA tour see the Newton's Nation Festival site. For info regarding competitor camping, access and accreditation, please read this important info.

All our volunteers have to be on the track by 7am friday. There are only so many volunteer spots available so those that are available for the full time will obviously be given priority. By all means fill out the volunteer form and we will look at the list

You may not be aware yet but both you and Maga WILL BE VOLUNTEERING in some capacity. I need more people on my video crew. You are of course free to sink as much piss as you won't during the night, just so long as you are on track with the rest of us at 7am each day

David, yes you can race juniors this year. It costs no extra to race juniors and open. Yes there are spots left, but don't leave it too long.

hey, a couple of things.

firstly, i was readin through the rules and where it talks about junior downhill it says you can compete for your age from the 1st of january. was that this january that's been or next. for example my b-day is 1/8/1992 so i turned 18 a month ago. can i race juniors?

also does it cost the extra $50 to race juniors and open?

and also, are there any spots left haha?

There will be time for practice on each of the three days; a little more on Friday than the other two days.
There will be more 4-man racing, and less one-out timed runs.
Details in the next few days...

will there be freeride though
Comment by Robbo on September 6, 2010 at 14:35
What I told you got completely knocked back by IGSA, however, we have come to a compromise that will be much better than the standard format for a 3 day event. Won't have the exact format layed out until we have the final rider numbers but lets just say it will have half the qualifying and 3 times the racing.
Comment by Robbo on September 6, 2010 at 11:34
If we did freeride all first day we would have to do qualifying all Saturday which is likely to be the biggest crowd day and would be utterly boring as shit for everybody involved.

We have a new format that has been approved by the IGSA and will be released very soon. Watch this space

We couldn't get the extra fourth day, so it's three days only.

We're just putting the finishing touches on a new race format - more racing, less sitting around.
Comment by Isaac on September 6, 2010 at 1:15
Has the extra 4th day been scraped, or are talks still continuing?

Isaac, camping is included for all competitors. We're working on a scheme to allow a couple of friends/family members to also have access to the competitor camping area. If your dad is serious about being a volunteer he should register here:
http://www.skateboardracing.org.au/page/newtons-voluteers

Kelly, yes, you to have to be an ASRA member. It's only $30, and you can join here: http://www.skateboardracing.org.au/page/asra-membership

i'm not a member of asra, nor do i have the money. i'm registering tomorrow morning, so do i need to become an asra member first?
Comment by Isaac on September 5, 2010 at 23:41
Where do you sign up for the camping? Did I miss it?
My dads tagging along, would it be best to plonk him as a trackside volunteer?
