Yeah Jay. I was never into ramps, just footpaths, streets and playgrounds. We all pushed with our front foot. Our back foot was our dominant foot. Used for stalling, tic tacing, pumping the board etc. Now it is the front foot for steering, taking your weight when tucking, footbreaking etc. There must have been a pivital moment when it went the other way. Maybe a well known skater pushed back foot and changed the whole scene. Maybe it is a question that will be covered in the future, someting like Darwins theory of evolution. LOL.
yo BJ , i might be very wrong here but , when i started skatin in the early 80,s ( well ok i was only 9 ) for some it was all ramp , so back foot always on the tail , gettin ready to drop in (to a ramp ) so if ya didnt street skate was always used to havin that foot on the back of the board and the other foot used for whatever else aka pushin and shit , cats back then used to bomb hills on 20 inch boards with no fear or science , but obviously with a lesser degree of daering and forthought !well at that time it seemed thus any7ways haha
yo dani , hook me up with this Dean from Brazil dude , fromreadin just a few posts is he footbreakin with his front foot ? i understand the physics ( aka weight on back of board sooo dangerous ) but fuck i do the opposite and would love to converse with cats that can do it the other way ,,,
Danky Dean from Brazil will out foot brake you all at speeds of 100KM/h and he doesn't get low and grab the board. The man is a machine! Regular braking is far more efficient though.
anyone got links to vids of unconventional footbreaking? wanna see what there is out there, give it a shot and see what i like. currently learning to footbreak regular and getting better all the time, i'm thinking i wouldnt mind learning to do a lower footbreak as well, while grabbing rail.
theres heaps of mongo footbreakers doing it at mega speeds they have just mastered it... looks like the trick is to get low and grab the deck as you break
