ASRA - Australian Skateboard Racing Association

So me Rob and Luca went exploring for new hill yesterday coz we got booted from Mt Keirra and we found this pretty sick hill. It was pissing down so we were forced into the quieter areas to stay safe while skating winding tracks. The hill we found has a good bit of distance and is fairly straight with a slight few bends here and there, and right at the end there is a right hand sweeper followed by a long left sweeper into this tight right-left chicane and drops off into a flat. Top speeds can be possibly around the 80 mark, we were hitting high 60s in the pouring rain with rain wheels on, and coming into the last section at around 60k's. There is a big open area at the bottom of the hill with grass and right next to a creek to set up marshaling areas, marquees and tents and what not and just a place to be able to chill out on. There are also a few u-turn spots on the hill to spectate from.
Now i know this is extremely short notice but i rekon it would be cool to do this before the crew heads off to europe, that last bit of practice of race scenarios before heading out to take on the big boys, so maybe in like 2 or 3 weeks. I can understand if thats too short notice to book tickets or if people just dont have the money then we can host it later on down the track. But if there is enough interest i think we could have a pretty fun outlaw race here that could cater for people of all skill levels. The surface is butter smooth and its way out of the way of any normal traffic, so closing the road intermittently for heats and practice runs should be a piece of piss. Theres also a few other sections of road for back-up hills just in case we do get booted.

If this is going to happen we should start getting things organized now, get the numbers sorted out (max 32 riders to make things easier... if we can get 32...hopefully) and start getting things ready. You can make it a weekend and stay in wollongong and skate Mt Keirra and all the other rad wollongong hills in the area, and sydney airport is only an hours drive away.

Whos keen?

Im keen =P
I remember biking along that for the Sydney to the Gong bike race a few years back.
They close it off completely for that, so it should be sweet to block it off for a few hours.
wouldn't be able to do it before euro, but later in the year i'd be keen!
You know what I think...lemme know if i can do anything to help. Sick
i know its easy for us sydney siders but its the QLD contingent that will make up a propper race! if they cant all get the funds/time to come down we will do it after europe and just have sessions there once or twice
maybe have to go there with your POV give them some incentive???
just sold that thing actually
definatly keen,i know a handful of the coast boys would be there for sure,id give yo a hand with things on the day,no probs,
my shoulder would like it after europe please
Looks like fun. I am keen for later in the year, not in 2 or 3 weeks both money and time come into it.
its not demanding on the shoulder at all. very easy track, draft race at the top and then a few sweepers to sort out the placings at the bottom of the hill
who's up for sat oct 4th, the day before pump station slalom race in the blue mountains? make a two-day event! Downhill outlaw one day then slalom madness the next day
it may not be hard on the shoulder but another fall on it in the next three months would put me off board for longer still, octobers good.
