So i had some old pushy pads I've ripped to to bits learning to skate ans it time for some proper pads. Was wonder is anyone had used the pro-tec drop-in pads (These guys: http://pro-tec.net/drop-in-knee-elbow-pads-skate.php ) and had some news on how well they wear? Same goes for the 187's? Both have replaceable caps but that doesnt mean the buckles arnt going to get ripped off. price wise the protecs are 7 bucks more so no real price difference. So what can you tell me?
Cheers,
Duber

Ive read all about the 187's so really just wondering if anyones used the new protec drop-ins?
Something like pro-tec streets (half the price) are plenty strong enough, just melt some chopping board onto the caps when they start to wear (or anywhere else for that matter) and your all gee. Those style pads are more vert etc. orientated, and are really overkill for the falls we take (more of a slide than a brutal drop), the extra padding just restricts your mobility, and messes with your tuck.
Yeah I rang up boardshop Australia and the bloke said the drop-in's were even thicker then 187's and yeah that the streets were slimmer again. hmmm
Yeah i was planning to put some plastic on them no matter which ones I get. Theres a plastics wholesale supplier 5 mins down the road that has hd plastic (that what they call it anyway. looks, feels and wears the same as slippery dip pucks) in different thicknesses.
