vaults are cheap and heaps good i have 83a and they slide pretty well mine have  lasted for aggeessss
don't buy vault. their stuff is cheap for a reason and most people here will tell you the same.
same experience from my friends. not a bad wheel, not the best wheel but for what? 30 bucks? go for it bro!

thats it, support a business who is undermining the guys like hopkin/cre8ive/etc that hold our sport together. vault are only interested in exploiting the only thing they see longboarding as, a craze. they know nothing about the sport and only have money on their mind.

by supporting a business like that, you are only slowing the growth of what we love.

IMHO the vault 83a wheel isnt the worst wheel out there, but, you could get a hell of a lot better wheel with a few more bucks. Just get a rad set of flashbacks or something from an aussie shop.  Vaults are not worth it unless you get them for free.
yer i agree with leigh! they might be cheap, but the money isnt going towards any aussie events or anything like that! you might as well spend the extra $40 or more, and get a quality wheel that will last, and you will be supporting the aussie longboarding scene!!! and in my opinion, they're shit wheels anyway, very uncontrollable slides and unpredictable!

Yep.

Or.

You could support them and help them to produce better stuff, and thus help to facilitate an aussie skate company with good gear, that supports the 'sport' so you dont have to import from USA (which only supports the USA economy.) The only reason Vault arnt producing good stuff and supporting you guys, is.... you dont support them. Its a two way deal.

Ive seen it happen in England with Lush (which started as a small crappy company making crappy gear, but now make some of the finest if not THE finest wheels in the world, they only managed that by using the money they made selling the early crap gear) it could happen here to. Or people can just continue to import US products.

or you can just not give a shit either way, buy what ever wheel you want and go skateboarding.

look at saving the cash for a better wheel

vaults aree good for cruisers and thaat

Why buy shitty wheels that may entice the manufacturer to make better ones, when you can buy great ones now.

I dont mean to labour the point, Im just offering a point of view, based on the fact I worked for the industry, so I know it pretty well, I encourage everyone to form their own opinions, BUT....

Just how do you think Abec 11 and Seismic got where they are today? Is it because they made a superior product or is it because they sold more wheels? Is it because they suppport the scene? (trust me, chaputs primary concern is cash, not skateboarding) or is it because they made more profit? The answer is profit. and how did they make that profit?  By selling direct to the end user. While non American wholesalers despise this practice, thats just how the industry in USA works. Whole salers and retailers make minimal margins, but make up for it with HIGH volumes (Australia is one of the smallest accounts on everyones books by the way). The manufacturers (abec, seismic) RAKE IT IN, with low margin sales to wholesalers, medium margin sales to retailers and high margin sales to the end user. This concept of selling to anyone, is what gave them their success and market dominance. Not their products (though they later developed good products)
Vault are not a retailer or wholesaler, they are a manufacturer selling direct to the end user. Early could do the same ( I think they do actually) Both these Aussie companies are following the same business model as Chaput and Gesmer, the model which allows for the fastest growth, and therefor the fastest product development.
By supporting Aussie retailers (hopkins, Creative etc) thats it, the support ends there, retail. Since the Retailers are selling predominantly USA brands, they have little sway when it comes to Aussie manufacture.

Support Aussie manufacturers (Daddow, Glyde, Early and yes Vault) and they will support you. they will spoonsor you, they will give prizes for your events, they willl make more money and therefor make new better products, since you will end up buying them.

Like I said, Just trying to offer some insight of the bigger picture, if you think Im talking shit, feel free to call me out.

Lol, "dont support vault because they don't support events"  If they supported events would you ride their stuff? No, because you're after much higher quality. They define themselves as cheap and not overpriced, how is that not supporting the longboard community? Personally I don't believe you have to be in the racing scene, as long as you wear safety gear and respect people round you, your not giving a bad name to boarding.
Find it funny how many people are like "its 90% rider, 10% setup" yet blame crappy equipment.
I just bought a set of wheels on ebay for $20, never heard of the brand, much rather flatspot them to hell then some Abecs
I found there wheels to have a bit of an icy slide in the sense that once they broke out they would just loose all traction and fly out from under me. Maybe that was just a one off.
On the other hand, my friend has one of their completes with orange square lipped wheels which are sick. He can slide on them as well as i can on my otangs/retros/seismics/abec 11s :)
No not at all mate, I thought your comment was good, I was following on the train of thought, sorry for any confusion. Sorry to the OP for the thread jack too- back on topic lads!
