Do you go through a lot of shoelaces on your skate shoes due to sliding on them when you come of your board?

If so. How long on average would a pair last?

i've never noticed any wear on my shoelaces...

Bowl/ramp skaters have this problem, and often modify their shoes with bits of leather to cover and protect the laces. The idea that I've had (but not tried) is to use leather laces, which I've seen for sale at shoe repair stores.

get short laces??

If there was something that cost a couple of dollars, that went over the shoelaces, that looked good, were comfortable and didn't get in the way, would you buy them?

I just carry a spare set with me. A lot of shoes made by globe and the like will come with 2 sets of different colours. Provided you don't have big knee sliding stacks too often they should last for a while. And you can always tie them back together too ;)

You always get spare laces with new sets of shoes. If your using hem all your doing something wrong.

Your a thread building machine BJ.

test it out yourself?

i cannot believe there is actually a serious discussion about shoe laces. is this even serious? i just don't know anymore!... im going back to bed.

Hey. Just an idea a mate of mine that still rides skate parks came up with and asked me to ask you guys. I will delete this post soon so you won't have to bother reading it again. Oh sorry you just did:)

After seeing the amount of shoes flying through the air at newtons. I reckon laces need more attention. A quick fix to stop future breaks is a nice big bit of duct tape over your laces.
