i got told off by cops for skating thru hyde park. ironically they lectured me on "safety" when they were the ones hooning around the footpaths of hyde park in an SUV. if my brain had been in gear at the time i'd have drawn their attention to that.

I made that exact argument to a "ranger" who stopped me skating in Moore Park. He said my skating was dangerous. I said it wasn't nearly as dangerous as the 4WD he was hooning about on, only metres away from picnickers. He handled it pretty well, didn't get too aggro. We discussed safety for a while - he complained that I wasn't wearing a helmet. I said that my bare head only endangered me and I was happy to take the risk, while his 4WD endangered everybody else, and he hadn't asked them whether they were happy to take the risk he was subjecting them to.

He fell back on the "it's against the rules" argument, and I got bored and figured I should should just get out of there and live to fight another day. :)
Leave us rangers alone!! The biggest thing that worries me when it comes to boarding in National Parks is the introduction of disease to native vegetation. Especially a fungas called Phytophthora!

Moore Park isn't a National Park - it's a small park in inner-city Sydney. It's just a bunch of grass with some bike paths and playground equipment. It gets used as a car-park when there's a big event at the SCG.
O, in this case you should've told him that his juristiction only covers areas owned by the Department for Enviroment and Heritage (DEH) or areas protected by the NPWS legislation 1978 and that his power trip was totally un-necessary aswell as un-warranted and to remove his cranium from his rectum!
isn't that the study of plants?

it's really annoying that i only ever seem to think up these juicy counterarguments after i've contritely accepted fault.
