IT is amazing how the retail shops in this country like to take advantage of the independant manufacturers . they ask for consignment , sell the boards ( making 100%+ profit ) , then dick you round for the payment for months , while the ones that want COD do the same !!
if you want us to sell to the public at wholesale & cut you out of the sales all together you are going the right way .
You know who you are , wake up to yourselves !

I posted this on the Luge Australia Forum as well but thought I'd pt it up here too.

Dave,

as an honourable retailer I can understand your frustration, but that is a very wide brush you are using when you title a thread like that. I own EVERYTHING in my shop, I do my accounts every Monday and pay all the invoices from the preceeding week.

You are probably not helping the stores pay you by offering goods at close to local wholesale pricing (Seismic wheels and Force trucks) which will be affecting their cash flow. However from your side I can see that you are going to be needing income too. It is one of the reasons I have refused to wholesale the stuff I import.

Maybe you should advise the shops that aren't paying that you will out them on the forums if they don't pay up (I personally would find that extremely embarassing if I was one) but don't hold your breath. One of my Inline suppliers offers 15% discount for payment in 7 days and 10% for payment in 30, she had a huge shipment arrive before Christmas and shipped $100'sK of stock in early December. So far I am the only store that has paid and I took the 15% if stores can't take those sorts of discounts in December when cash flow is huge, there is trouble in paradise.

Good luck Dave, I'd hate to see you go under because of bastards who won't pay their bills.

Cheers

The Larger shops like yourself ,Hop , skater HQ ect.. are the only ones who pay on time 60% don't ( I guess thats why you have grown to be large shops ) , the point is if you are not planning on paying when the boards sell , don't ask for consighnment to start with .
Due to companies like sector 9 flooding the shops with boards on consignment , it is somthing we have to do ( not want to ) , thats business i guess . But it is dissapointing when you are forced to remove stock from shops & heckle for payment of sold stock . Due to this ( element ) I now refuse to give consighnment (which sucks for the shops that are doing the right thing ) .
It won't stop fsu growing ( it's Just very dissapointing to us )
Again a reprint from Luge Oz

Dave,

sounds like some of these stores are trying stuff on. I have NEVER been offered boards on consignment from the biggies like S9, etc. In this industry we are used to having to pay up front for stock from smaller companies. Don't let the bastards con you mate. I am a small shop not a biggie, I just have a lot of DH/Slalom/longboard gear and bugger all clothing.

Keep your chin up mate, but keep on those that owe you as I have a feeling a lot of shops aren't gonna be around when this economic crisis is over.

Cheers

dave, i have little experience in the retail side of things but I am on a fast learning curve, from what i have seen and from what i have learned about the wholesale and reseller side of things we are better off selling our boards ourselves, i know that the profits on reputable imported downhill boards are not 100%+ so why should you sell your boards to a retailer at a cheaper price than you would to the end user and have them sell it on at a price comparable to imports? especially when you can sell them yourself at a price that beats imports and puts more money back in your pocket
only to try & make the end price & availability better for the end user , but i am tending to agree with you these days .
( 3 shops have contacted me since this post to make payment )

Fear of being exposed is a great loosener of wallets!!!! That is great news Dave. I use the local Rebels MC club for debt collection and in general a threat of passing the debt to them is enough to have the debt settled (;-)>
