reflex cones not sitting right in my rII's

hey im not sure how many of you have tried the reflex bushings but they appear to be a slightly larger size than the bushing seat. They kind of bulge out of the seat over the lip and i was wondering if this will affect the handling and lifespan of the bushings. i dont have access to a lathe so im hoping someone has a quickfix without modding the bushings. By the way this is my first time at changing bushings so i may have done something wrong....

oh yeah thats a tall cone bottom bushing if that helps any
Before you think about cutting the bushing first make sure the bushing seat is perfectly round and flat. This is a very common and historical problem with RII's. This is why Paris feels nicer then RII even though they have the same dynamics they just have a nicer and more correct bushing seat. Get a drill mounted grinding stone from the hardware store that is the proper size for a bushing seat, will cost about $3-4. Attach it to a cordless drill and correct the seat. If this doesn't work use different bushings. If you are using the trucks for DH get rid of the conical bushing and use a barrel else try a different conical. Some bushing are more inclined to blowout then others.

they are similar to these but you can usually just buy one, you want the second one down on the right or a different version of that.

Thanks for the advice robbo i will head down bunnings tomorrow. Grinding around the seat wont affect the structural integrity of the hanger? It's not on my dh board its for my cruiser thats why I got the cones, I can always chuck the stock randal bushing back in the bottom if i have to. i had a look on silverfish and apparently im not the only one struggling to get them to fit the seats.
griptape. sand it off =D

Robbo's idea is the right way to do it but if you've never done it before then dexters says, "chances of you stuffing it up and butchering your hanger are 98%".

Instead why not shape the bush to fit.
While your at bunnings get a 3/8" hex head bolt 1-1/2" long with washer and nut. This is the same size as your kingpin only shorter.
Why not use a kinpin I hear you say?
Well its too long for just one bush and the nyloc nut is a bitch to get on and off.

Load it up like I've shown in the picture and hold the remaining threads in the drill. Spin the drill and rub the corner of the bush with some super coarse sand paper glued to a flat surface (your deck!). Now you can sand the guilty corner of the bush so it will fit into your hanger seat.
Thank you Professor Fitz!
An excellent piece of technical writing there...

I smell a piss take........
Ha! Professor Fitz. You made me get flashbacks of Bret One-T from Charlie. Another brother sadly lost.
cheers fitz, i like the idea of only ruining a bushing if i take too much off instead of stuffing my hanger. thanks for the advice guys

No piss-take Fitz, that was very effective, especially the picture.

Now you know how easy my job is....
