Pumping setup

I have almost everything sorted but im tossing up between 4.3 and 5.0 Bennett. My back truck is a randal 125 and a lot of silverfish threads recommend a 4.3 and a 106 tracker. With my 125 randal would i need the 5.0 or 4.3? Or will it not make a major difference with the 4.3 still better at acceleration and 5.0 having a better top speed? I'm really just worried about whether the size ratio will make a major difference.

I'm setting up 2 decks so i'd be cool if the set up worked well for both (but not expecting a miracle). The main deck is a rayne timeline 9.25" and the other is the fibretech croco 840 at 8.7". Both decks are around 33-34" in length, cambered with a stiff flex.

Good setup I reckon, with a Randal at the back. I reckon a 5.0 would go better with the Randal 125, just because they'll be the same width (give or take a mm). Wedge the Bennett to taste - anywhere between about 8 and 15 degrees should be good. If it's a 50 deg Randal baseplate you should probably dewedge it. A 42 or 35 deg baseplate would be better. I reckon the key issue is how turny the front is compared to the back. Everybody's different, but I generally like the front very turny and the back very non-turny - makes it easier to pump.

It's totally up to you, and I recommend experimenting to see what works for you. But yeah, 8-15 dewedge for a 50 deg plate is a good place to start.

i had 5.0s front and rear on my timeline and it was pumpable even without wedging (but not optimal). i would only throw about 8 degrees of wedge up front if you still want to be able to ride it around town and bomb some smaller hills or it will be crazy twitchy. sk8kings use trimmed randal hangers as rears for their slalom decks with bennett up front so you can't really go wrong with the combo if richy endorses it

Hey guys, sorry to bump an older thread but I have a similar question with my Timeline. 

However I have Paris 150s front and rear so not sure how/if I should wedge it at all since most threads on here/Silverfish talk about using Bennets or Bennets/Tracker combo.

Would wedging and dewedging a 50degree RKP make it majorly twitchy and a stupid thing to do or ...?

John, wedging the Paris will work fine. Just make sure to use SOFT bushings in the front, cos the wedging gives you less leverage so the bushings need to be softer to compensate. And for the rear, a harder bushing cos you'll have more leverage.

i spend half my time at church of slalom tinkering with my setup haha. hourglassed white khiros (short cone) felt way too divey on my bennett front but mix it with a blue/white or orange/white combo and it may work. check out pavedwave or the old galac site for tips on bennett bushing combos. otherwise use a washer to shim bushings to the proper bennett height
