I think this is massively cool. If you know who Manu Antuna is....

Actually I think its massivly cool even if you dont know who Manu Antuna is. Composite 3D concave deck, chrome graphic by Pete Fowler, Hollow Axle/kingpin trucks, AND Cult wheels. HOLY FUCK BATMAN!

What are the benefits of having a hollow kingpin and hollow axles? Besides the obvious weight reduction and all. It looks sick though.

i fuckin want one!!! that thing is fuckin gnar!!!

A hollow tube is stronger than a solid tube. Ask an engineer, something to do with sheer stresses or something. And yeah lighter. Not to mention cool. White trucks are RAD, i got some white calibers a while ago, they are totally porno.

Dear spammer. Kindly eat a dick.

Man you guys are up tight. I thought some people on here might actually be interested in this. if youre not then fair enough. I dont see how its spam, doesnt benefit me in the slightest if people click the link or not.

im interested i never new about this board before but now i do and im already setting aside the $$ for one!!

A hollow tube is weaker than a solid tube. Just not by much. The material in the centre adds very little strength, you can cut it out without much effect on the overall strength.

When you add force directly down, the top of the tube is being compressed, the bottom is being expanded. The middle is close to balance. My knowledge of it is limited, but that's why you put fibreglass/carbon on the exterior of a deck. Think about a steel I-beam. As long as the force is in the right direction, it will be almost as strong as a solid beam with far less material.

You used the wrong sheer/shear.

Interesting board. Homophobes, kindly leave. Your comments are far more worthy of criticism than this thread.

Thanks, so hollow axle and kingpin basicly just means a lighter truck, at no real loss in strength? Indy GOG and others have been on to it for a while. Sabres are light anyway, so the hollow version must be VERY light.

This is cool too http://ipaperus.ipaperus.com/SD/StealthDivisionMediakit/ but its by my mate Alex, he didnt ask me to post this here, but Im sure he would be stoked to get the message to ASRA so its clearly spam so dont click on it....

Basically, yes. As Alex said, the centre of a beam (or rod) in bending carries very little tensile or compressive load, with pure shear at the centre. You can get rid of the material with little or no sacrifice in stiffness. The same principle applies to I-beams, foam sandwich panels (e.g. surfboards, foam core decks) and all sorts of other engineering structures.

This whole set up is making me feel sick with board-lust. I'd prefer if the deck was symmetrical but it still looks rad as.

As far as I know it's only the kingpins that are hollow, not the axles. They will be 5 grams lighter each truck, and will be 451 grams total weight each including washers and bushings.
