Long boarders on ABC collectors next Friday 10Jul09

From abc.net

Friday 10 July

Tonight on COLLECTORS the sight, the sound and the fury of 200 massed skateboards! Bobby Godfrey has clocked himself at 110 kph on one of his beloved boards. He lives for them, owning neither car nor bicycle. Boards are his sole transport and his main interest. He echoes a refrain we often hear; he couldn’t get them when he was a kid, but now he’s earning money, he’s going to have them all. And he means all. One of his most interesting is a broadly winged one designed by Ben Lexcen, the genius who designed the winged keel that won Australia the Americas Cup back in the early 80s. Sadly the winged board didn’t take off and today is rare, but not particularly prized.

Taswegian show. Had Tony Hallam on last year. Ben, when will you be on it????

I would give up all the boards and equipment I have for my old super slalom flyer from 1975 solid poly deck with "spangle wheels" that took a stone the size of half a pea to stop at any speed......In my day in the UK a longboard would have been a chunk of wood on two roller skates one behind the other.........Anyone got a red super flyer slalom (serious replies only)
