Is there any known issues, etc, etc with leaving boards in the boots and back seats of cars on hot days for extended periods of time?

Can they delaminate, become more prone to breaking, etc, etc?

I ask as I seem to be doing it lately and summer is starting to hit.

Thanks.

Unless your board is wet for some reason, there should be no problem whatsoever. The wood won't delaminate as the thermal expansion coefficient of one layer will be the same as the next assuming they're made of the same wood.

The only thing you might care about is your bearing lube getting runny, letting any excess you have drip all over your car, but this is sort of beneficial for your board, as it probably means you had way too much lube in your bearing.

Obviously if your board is wet there'll be some god awful warping happening.
not really good for resin glued boards (ie. anything with carbon or glass) in direct light.
just cover it with something.

keeps the thieves away too.
If they can't see it, they don't want it.
Doesnt timber expand at different rates along the grain as it does across the grain? Luckily the thermal expansion of properly dried timber is crap all. Plywood in construction situations holds up to just about everything, except when it sits in water.

timber is generally (i've never seen it not) cut with or perpendicular to the grain....

for thermal expansion there are 3 axis: x, y and z.

each axis will have a different expansion per area im pretty sure because of rate of heat transfer. But each axis will have the same expansion within itself, so all the layers will expand in the x, y and z but the different layers will expand at the same right within its plane...

i think... my physics is a little rusty... please do point out where i'm wrong. :)

Thanks for the input guys.

I have come to the conclusion that it is ok to leave a skateboard in the boot of a car during summer.
