Hey Tom, By CF, I am asuming you mean "Carbon Fibre". Im not sure how it would look to be honest. I can give it a go. If I were to engrave shallow so that not much of the CF was cut, it may work...I will need to run some tests...I will get back to ya. Ive been thinking this myself, I guess its time to try. tom Crane said:

Hi Tom and Wez, I would suggest you don't try to engrave carbon or kevlar as you will destroy the integrity of the weave and weaken the board. The only way you could possibly do it would be to have a very thick filler coat of resin over the glasswork and only engave the resin coat, but realistically you'll only have about ten thou thickness to play with.

Engraving would look awesome against carbon fiber but I not so sure it would be very good for the strength of the board, it would have to be in a very no critical area

Hey Merrick, the colour of the etching is totally governed by the wood colour. A method im still toying with is staining the etching with wood stain...it may not work on all decks though. Basically, if people want it coloured, it will take much longer, making it much more expensive... If it is colour you are after, it may be best to crack open the artlines and draw directly onto the deck. The "tat" process I use was developed to give a unique look that is able to be added to/expanded at any time...whilst still being able to be done onto exsisting graphics. Soz man if this comes across harsh.

Hey wes, on a test pice you could try wiping/painting a watercolour wash- say red for eg and the whole piece would be red!?? or would it bleed into a big mess....maybe try it on a scrap first
if it doesn't bleed maybe even squeegee acrilic paint across and into the groovs??

i think the tattoo etching thing is a great and original idea, however i think u might want to try dabbling with colors
its seem like what the people want

Yeah, Ive experimented a little with stain and colour, but it bleeds way to much. if the peeps want colour, I could easily do "paintpen" work with no etching....very easily. Again, the etching was just a chance for me to use my woodcraft skills combined with art.,..combined with skating. If the public are happy with paintben work, man...I could wack those out in no time...this would even work on CF! So, I guess I need to ask...is there anyone outhere that would want paintpen tats (keeping in mind that they may just chip off over time)?
