Hey,

I have a Landyachtz Switch longboard :O and I love it, for freeride and a bit of downhill. But i want to get more into Downhill and was wondering if I could use my switch as a speedboard, instead of buying a new speedboard. I believe it has the characteristics of a good speedboard...  12 ply maple, dropped 1 inch, 41 inches long, no flex... but everyone seems to use it as a freeride board :S

what Do you think i should do?

- Buy some Saber or downhill cast trucks and some centrax or downhill wheels, for the switch

- Buy a complete new speedboard (same setup as above)

btw, currently the board is setup

- Landyachtz Switch

- Bear 852's

-Orangatang Durians 83a

In my opinion, you wont realise the diffrence between downhilling on a switch as opposed to a "real speedboard."
The switch is more then sufficent for downhill of any type but its more the rider then the board.
Change the wheels around to something bigger like an inheat or a bigzig, means you'll go faster.
Practise, practise, practise your tuck! Thats of number 1 priority. Not about the hardwear, more the rider.

Never give up buddy, no matter what anyone says.

Bears are a fine downhill truck, though you could dewedge the back a little, give yourself a forward bias. As for wheels, go for something lipped if your thinking serios corners (ie zigs, 4prez, speedvents), though if its more long bombs you'll be fine with the durians. The switch is one of the more versatile boards out there.
There is no reason that the switch can't be set up for downhill.
Robert is right about getting different wheels, but for the wrong reason. Durians, big zigs and inheats are the same size. The reason you would replace the durians is to get something with a square edge that grips better.
Also, you could keep the bears, and just play around with some angled risers, since the switch has such a big drop, you can afford to raise it up a little.
as the others said, Bears are fine for downhill, if you are using stock bushings just get some new venom barrels, green and red combo works well (green boardside, red roadside).
My bushing setup :D
