Hey i was just checking out silverfish and saw the proto for Mischo's ronin cast trucks with the queenpin setup. I know they are made of some ridiculous strength steel (17-4 stainless) in a place that apparently makes aircraft turbines with awesome quality control but the price is looking around $300. The groms are probably frothing right now but just wondering if you would spend that much on a cast truck?

I thought they were CNC Trucks?

its not the same as a cast truck... its meant to be a truck thats as strong as a CNC made truck but with stronger materials than your usual cast truck, but also cast in a way that makes it super mondo and epic...
there is 2 versions, the CNC one and this new truck, i'm pretty sure the pic at the top of his post shows both styles set up on his boards in the boot of the car.

thanks trav i couldn't be arsed copying the pics in haha
if it rides good i would pay it, i dont care how its made to be honest, if it rides really nicely and looks that pretty then i would shell out the 300
i hope he did the stress testing, those lines and empty spaces look clean and nice but also sabre esque in that it looks like it will break
yeah i think it is a case of it being stronger metal so they used less of it to make it lighter, instead of just making an unbreakable baseplate (not that it exists) hope it isn't a case of placing misguided faith in expensive materials e.g.. fyre truck axles.... not that i have an engineering background and have a clue about this stuff
me and timmy, as engineers in training can attest. most of our  lecturers rouhgly say *if you are wrong shit breaks and people do too*

I'm sure Fred Baumann did his Finite Element Analysis (FEA) before investing the money to make an expensive mold to be pouring cast trucks....an engineer would be smart to do that. He can simulate stresses acting on the truck on the computer so he can design his truck to be strong. Steel is much stronger than aluminum, that is why the baseplate looks thinner / less meat on it, in order to reduce weight....

The whole point of making a cast truck is to mass produce, thereby reducing production costs, and therefore, reducing the unit price of a single truck. Making it cheap and affordable to the masses.

If they're gonna cost $300, I might as well buy a CNC truck like an Aera....

theses look awesome, but what angle is the king pin at?

indeed Abdil, i'd like to know what the cost is for the CNC version of this truck. But yeah there is a lot of talk about the various testing on these cast trucks. apparently they are made in some aircraft engine component place and these undergo the same test as engine components.

the issue I see with the queenpin design is it is for lots of traction and precise turns... but most people's riding / racing style has changed to riding loose and sliding....
