Recently ordered a fullface helmet, doesnt come with a face shield. Seen pics of people with the same helmet and home made ones. Just curious if anyone here has made one and what you used. I don't care too much about a fancy one, just one that works well and is quite clear. Any advice?

The helmet is Giro Remedy btw.

flip ups are notoriously hard to shape and need ovens and lexan(polycarbonate) roughly 3mm thick for the ones that stay put just cut out some lexan 1mm or thinner to a shape and stick it on place

Visors are only really made for road bike helmets, these are generally very narrow. Some bunnings sell polycarbonate but not all.
the one i work at (chatswood) sydney sells polycarb in thin sheets AND 3mm slabs
Plastic Creations in Fyshiwick bro.

My local signmaker was my source. Considering you're in Canberra try this place, explain your story and ask if you can buy a small offcut of clear polycarbonate. I used to get 1.6mm about the size of A4 page for $5. No heating required. It will only make a mess of things.

Don't bother just ringing up otherwise they'll think you're just wasting their time for a few lousy bucks. Show up at the door and meet face to face.

Good luck bending 3mm. The visor only has to make your helmet more aero and keep the wind out your eyes. The helmet does the protecting. It doesn't need to be bomb proof.

is 1.6mm stuck at the top with the mounting screws, and at the bottom with a little velcro. It flips...sort of.
