I see a fair few of them with popped shields and the ball bearings are about to fall out of the race...
It is quite strange but i had a good look at a few of them and the problem i found is that the actual shield is too close to the actual balls. So if you're charging a hill and they heat too much then there goes your shields and soon the balls will give way in the race.
Go ceramic bearings....

I was just carving down my street back from school when one of my brand new bones reds shatterd and my wheel when flying off, and i looked down to se ball bearing every where and bearing case ripped apart. The actuall out side of the bearing was still in the wheel.....didnt think it could happen

exactly what happened to my one. same thing to, just carving and then my wheel flew off
If it was on the L/H side of the deck its prob the wheel nut work loose, esp in a L/H turn.

i threw a wheel on apollo rd doing about 70, don't know if i seized or it was just the wheel being crap, they were those really soft avilas, so soft you can squeeze the core, so i may have just ripped it off as it was just after a tight left hander.
make sure your bearings are clean and lubricated, if you're using an oil, you need to keep on top of it, the thinner the oil the faster you go but the quicker it evaporates, bearings heat up when not lubricated.
also if you're sliding a lot this can damage your bearings causing them to seize.
sliding= fun as, but is the worst thing for bearings.
the nut, washer, inner bushing of bearing, spacer and complete inside bearing we're still intact on my axel, i inspected my other wheels, bearings were good, but i noticed the bearing seats in the cores of the wheels were showing wear and tear. i liked the grip those wheels had, but i'm not sold on the integrity of the cores, the plastic they are made of seems a bit soft.
has anyone else experianced this?
