ASRA - Australian Skateboard Racing Association

Was watching Drive with Mike Vallely on 1 HD the other night. For those that didn't see it he caught up with Lance Mountain and Tony Hawk. Mostly park skating but good to watch, good to hear skaters talking with skaters. Best thing of all though was hearing skaters talking with respect. Highly recommended and gives a good insight into the culture of the art, that developed into a sport. For any of the young guys out there, Vallely would provide a great role model with a positive outlook and a lot of respect.

Almost immediately after being released, he went straight back into jail for drug charges. That was only a few yrs ago.
I still like him though.

Jay Adams is a pureist, He just wanted to go skateboarding and pay the rent for his mother, he got the raw end of the bargin with sponsors and other things in life

So what's your opinion of Jay Adams then? Sure he's a drug fiend but the man's a living legend.
.

Mike V.
Id say hes more of a bad boy than a role model.

But hes a better role model than Steve-O
hahahaaaaaa
I think money makes people take poor decisions. When people throw money at sport stars, they have a lot of free time, letting them get away with things we'd all get in trouble for, it creates an unreal world, bubble...halo effect. Then one day the general public says ... nahh that going too far, where are the morals. ie tiger woods. And you would still call him a role model.
I hope most kids see flaws in their sports stars. Isn't that the lessons we learn? Parable of the story?
Jay Adams wants to be left alone and skate but he'll take the money for being a star ... beats $5 an hour at walmart.
Mike V is one of the smartest guys on the block. He knows the power of a skate rep. He is a showman. When you hear him talk, he is a smart guy. I think young people could learn a lot from mike because he challenges people to think and read books, not be stupid.
In reality our role models are based on their talent, what they are good at. You look at mike v and say hell I want to skate like that. You see tiger woods and think I want to play golf like that. I want to bowl like shane warne. Does a kid say I want to drive a car like tiger woods? Txt like shane?
"drive like tiger txt like shane" hahahaha funny but extremely true well put Hop
