So- I was looking on Draggins website, and saw their K-gloves on there. http://www.dragginjeans.net/product/k-gloves I had a thought- Why not velcro some pucks onto these bad boys, surely they'd hold up better than leather. Any ideas? Anybody actually tried these? + For $35AUD, seems like a good option.

no they wouldn't hold up better than leather. leather is stronger than Kevlar.
leather tears though, kevlar doesn't.

it's like having a slam in draggin jeans, you wear some of the kevlar, but if you slam in leathers you will probs put a hole in them...
true, but generally the wear on your gloves is due to abrasion. doesn't leather hold up to that type of abuse better?
mmm... I liked the idea when I saw "kevlar", but looking at the picture I would still choose leather over the knitted kevlar. It'd be interesting to have the opinion of someone who's actually tried them!
Yeah- Would it be safe(ish) to assume that if its the same material/kevlar as what the jeans etc have, then wouldn't it hold up better than leather? How much abuse can leather actually take?
I've always assumed that leather was better than kevlar, though I didn't really have a good reason for that belief. So I just googled it: http://www.google.com.au/search?q=leather+vs+kevlar

Lot of opinions out there, but no real consensus.
Leather will cop an enormous amount of punishment in comparison to kevlar. By enormous I mean leather is in a totally different league to kevlar.

Aside from Leigh, the rest of you guys are comparing the wrong things. Kevlar might be better than cotton which is what it is usually compared to. When comparing with leather they are not talking about durability (although they would love people to make that misconception) it is more about weight and creating gear that has the appearance and movement of fiber cotton but more abrasively durable.

Kevlar is not unbreakable and can be easily ripped apart. Its just harder to do than normal organic fibers used in regular clothing. What would be better is a simple leather patch but that would ruin the aesthetics of wearing normal clothing.
i've seen people slam in draggin jeans and slide for ages and they didn't tear or anything so i just expected that they would hold up, but i have seen someone put a hole in their leathers.

but i don't think that it's necessary to have leather or kevlar gloves, just my opinion, i have garden gloves (not sure of makeup) that work well and you just patch up any holes with duct tape. :D
Good and fair point I think.

Draggins tear. I own a pair. I'd much rather have leather on my ass than kevlar. Kevlar's just more flexible and comfortable to walk around in.

gloves are like any safety equipment. there is general wear and tear but mainly they are there for when things goes wrong. i wouldn't like to be coming off at speed in a pair of non leather gardening gloves....

Finn - if you want to try out kevlar, ebay search security gloves and you can buy kevlar lined leather gloves for fairly cheap....

no-one has enough faith in duct-tape haha.

they work good. i've come off at speed with them on, hold up well.

and as for kevlar i was just assuming that it was good because of what i've seen, not experienced...
