Permalink Reply by Tim Day on July 26, 2010 at 1:14 Leather will cop an enormous amount of punishment in comparison to kevlar. By enormous I mean leather is in a totally different league to kevlar.
Aside from Leigh, the rest of you guys are comparing the wrong things. Kevlar might be better than cotton which is what it is usually compared to. When comparing with leather they are not talking about durability (although they would love people to make that misconception) it is more about weight and creating gear that has the appearance and movement of fiber cotton but more abrasively durable.
Kevlar is not unbreakable and can be easily ripped apart. Its just harder to do than normal organic fibers used in regular clothing. What would be better is a simple leather patch but that would ruin the aesthetics of wearing normal clothing.

i've seen people slam in draggin jeans and slide for ages and they didn't tear or anything so i just expected that they would hold up, but i have seen someone put a hole in their leathers.
but i don't think that it's necessary to have leather or kevlar gloves, just my opinion, i have garden gloves (not sure of makeup) that work well and you just patch up any holes with duct tape. :D
