ASRA - Australian Skateboard Racing Association

alright, need everybodys two cents, doing standies down a road, fall off, car comes flying around a corner behind me, she doesnt seem to slow down, anyways thats not the point, the my nose of my board was jammed under her front left wheel, she kept driving for 5m or so until she reversed and let my board out,the boards bascially popped up and hit her bumper, it basically just skidded, my board didnt snap (baby killer) all the pressure went to the trucks, and now im being blamed for her to pay for a wheel re alignment, when i think about it, a curb would do more damage to a car wheel rather than a skateboard, i can expand on the story if anyone wants me to, really dont want it to go to the pigs to get involved because then ill get done for skating illegally maybe or whatever. help me!

Even if you were skating illegally she has a duty of care to look out for possible dangers on the road.

If it was an old lady with a walking frame or a small child with a toy I'm sure she wouldn't be asking them to fork out for a wheel alignment.

Check your states rules regarding skating on the road. Here in NSW if the road has a speed limit of 50 or under and has no dividing line you are well within your rights to be skating during daylight hours.

nah i was in the wrong skating, but she defintely had enough time to stop, and when the board hit, she drove for like another 5 or so metres! so fuckd! http://maps.google.com.au/maps?q=Montmorency,+Victoria&hl=en&am... thats a good reference to where i exactly got hit. she was coming down the hill.

dude what car was she driving any normal car would not need a wheel alignment after that trust me

i know! going over a curb would do more damage! a little hatch, dont recall what exact car, something like a hyundai getz.

Mate tell her you'll fix her up for a wheel align as long as she pays for a new set of trucks & just tell the bitch your old ones were Kahalani's

hahahaha yes! do what dad's do skate said!!

doubt thats gonna get me anywhere. but ill try :D

mate heres a suggestion ask her to take her car to an NRMA service depatment and have it checked they are the ones who will immediately spot and alignment probs it will only cost about $15-$20 but you'll find out straight away if you actually need to pay for damages. Again i say a board under a car in any case will not miss allign the wheels. Did she say that to you at the scene or later on? im curious to know how she was able to know without even driving the car tat it needed re-allignment, my suspicion is she already needed one and she saw your misfortune as a way of getting it paid for by you

she took it straight to an ultra tune and then called me up, so ill tell her to do that then.

Chris, did she see you riding the board, if not, you could have been walking across the road and she ran you/deck over?

Like uan said she has a duty of care to all other road users, which inc pedestrians, (Power gives way to sail),

give her a copy of a quote to repair your outfit.

Blow that man! Prove it! Your board never went under her car! It's a bit of wood, it would of snapped for sure.

You were never skating, you never fell and your board has never been in contact with a car in it's life.

Now delete this thread as it's evidence to your lie.

One word - WITNESSES.  If none that had details taken and only damage was to your trucks, then ditch the broken trucks as they're already useless.  How can she prove you were hit?  In all states, regardless of the situation, pedestrian has right of way.  Even if they give you no warning and run out in front of a vehicle trying to get hit, they still have right of way.  If the motorist doesn't like that rule then they shouldn't drive in the first place.
