benefits of light/carbon boards
so im thinking what is the benefit of a light board.
carbon boards cost heaps more and it seems to me that heavier riders are faster in the straights anyway.

I dunno, on a slope start, I like the feel of the extra weight behind each push. Though thats just personal preference. They do feel good going for a long push thats for sure.

they are more nimble under your feet, easier to push off the line, and in general.
massively more expensive to produce too!!

i love light boards. they are easier to slide, easier to push, easier to travel with, and feel nimble under your feet... i do not race on normal boards any more, im all about carbon foam cores or really thin boards. If you got the money to spend its worth it. buying a carbon board is just like upgrading your gear to the next level, if you can afford to dish out the dollars then go for it, if your worried about how much money your going to spend, buy a normal board

They are usually heaps stiffer than a normal deck and therefore more responsive, they change direction quicker.
They are nice and easy to carry back up the hill and of course the bling factor, They look sick!!!

i think it handles alot better and is so much easier to control especially for someone like me. my wooden hellcat setup weighed 5.5kg and it was just too big and bulky for me.
i managed to get a dee-lite from the rayne f2 sale and now dropped the weight to 3.5kg. found it alot easier to pull off my slides and control myself through corners. i didn't really see much of a difference in terms of speed because everyone else is like 20kg heavier than me so i'm always the one behind :) i don't think shaving 2kg off will affect it that much.

your body weight and the board are different because you have to move the board. so the lighter something is the easier it is to move. i get it now :-)
this kind of ties in so heres another question:
why are precision trucks so big and chunky then? like if cast trucks work fine for DH then i dont see the need to make the whole thing super thick like most preciscions. isnt that unnescary weight if you are paying triple the deck price for 2kg
