Aside from saying grease lube is good it is generally a very good FAQ.

I thought this bit from NUM 17, was odd/interesting,

Some manufacturers supply bearings with removable shields, whilst others have shields that are crimped in place. Neither is usually better than the other unless you intend replacing the lubricant or cleaning the bearing from time to time (neither of which is recommended by the manufacturer).

 

So we shouldnt clean or lube our bearings?

I think the faq is based on bearings for industrial applications

 

Small bearings for industrial application with shields usually come pre-greased, manufacturers don't recommend removing the shields and cleaning/re-greasing due to the possibility of contamination and incorrect application ie to much or too little grease. Manufacturers will recommend replacing bearings at set intervals
