ASRA - Australian Skateboard Racing Association

Hey guys and girls!

My name is patrick, i´m 24 years old and studying mechanical engineerig. i will have finished my diploma at the end of this year. from january 2012 to april 2012 i will be in australia. of course i will take my board with me on this journey.

it would be pretty cool to get to know some of you guys and girls so that i have some adresses and people that know good spots to longboard and carve around.

it would also be great if you could show me some cool things for example in sydney, melbourne, perth, brisbane. kind of sightseeing.

a very big benefit would be if i could get some accommodation at your houses but that´s a thing we can talk about in privat i would say.

so if there is somebody who would like to help me to get around, show me nice things like tourist atteractions or insider-stuff when i´m in australia would be very cool!!!

of course i also want to hang around and go longboarding with you then :-)

just answer in this thread or send me a private message :-)

i hope you guys and girls are doing fine down under!!

greetings from germany

hey mate, my door is always open to skaters, i am based in melbourne. What sort of longboarding are you into?

hey sean, cool that you answered this fast !

I´m coming from surfing so i bought the board for the time i can´t go surfing :-) i have a sweet madrid pintail.

that´s why i´m doing just cruising and carving until now (of course i can also carve down a downhill track ;-)) but i´m not very good in this^^

i´m not quite sure which route i will take in australia. maybe i´ll start in sydney and go around to melb, adelaide, perth, (if the money is still enough then i want to go to darwin to see some cool jungle), back to cairns and sydney.

where exactly do you live in melbourne?

cheers

patrick

hey,

where are all the aussie-skateboarders?

Does nobody else want to help me a bit??

Cheers

Patrick

I'm in brisbane, of course, because I live in a share house, I would need to make sure everyone else is okay with you staying a couple of days, be we have the friday night carpark sessions on, which would be perfect for your style!

Just send me dates, and I will see what I can do!

Hey Tim,

thanks for your reply.

As soon as i have any dates (which will take a while, i mean there´s nearly one year left of time^^) i will contact you again but thank you very much for your offered help. I appreciate that!!

By the way, what´s exactly going on in Brisbane? Haven´t heard anything in the news for about a week...

Cheers

Patrick

Nothing much, it's all back to normal, that is, if you haven't had any flood damage, most of the stuff in the news is just how the government will make cut backs on things to pay for recovery, and how we won't be rebuilding a 70 million dollar riverwalk that will never be missed :p

Well, that´s nice to hear.

And as i already said..i´ll come back to your offer as soon as i have dates for my trip...

Hang loose

Patrick

Hey guys...my flight starts sunday the 15th of january 2012!

So i´ll probably be in sydney on the 17th and will stay in the central yha (next to the central railway station) for the first 3 or 4 nights. as i heard sydney is very expensive....that´s why i´ll move north to collaroy (beachhouse) for some more days with hopefully good surf and spots to longboard. after that i would like to go into the blue mountains and do some camping and daywalks through this beautiful area!!!

and then i´ll take the train to melbs....more i haven´t planned yet ;-)

I open for tips from you guys living over there and still hope to find some places at yours where i could stay for some nights...

Looking forward to read your answers in here!!!

Stop by Canberra on your way to Melbourne dude! I may not be here but there'll always be some crew here to skate with and maybe even crash with. If you take the train you will probably pass through anyway so why not stay for a couple of days? But I'll just say now that flying may be a better option.
If you find yourself in radelaide let us know. My place is full of Europeans and skaters are welcome.

@ James

I´ve heard that there´s a ticket that only costs 65dollars for the train. I´m not sure if a flightticket would be that cheap.

And yeah, maybe I´ll stay for a couple of days in Canberra. What else, besides longboarding, is Canberra famous for? (Except being the Capital of Australia)

Where will you be then because you said you may not be there?

@Dani

For sure I will make a stop in Adelaide. As I heard you have great streets to skate and a pretty good surf sometimes? And i have to find someone....she´s called Erin and does Streetskateboarding..maybe you´ve heard of her..?! That would be rad :-D

I've never caught the train so I have no idea how much it costs so it could be the best bet price wise, it'll just take ages :p. Canberra has enough to keep you ammused for a day or two. We have stuff like parliment house, national museum of australia and the war memorial (that in its self can take a day). The best part is, one of our major tourist attractions, telstra tower, is on top of our best hill so you can kill 2 birds with one stone. See the tower at the top then smash the run. We may have some nice fresh new roads to skate by the time you're here as well. Other than that the capital can offer you some dirty down hill fun in the surrounding hills. I'm sure dudes will be happy to organise a trip to some of the runs out of town. But its possible that I'll be in Finland (where its nice and flat :( ) when you get here so I may not be there to shred with you.
