Got the 81a wheels two weeks ago and have almost cored them. They flat spotted like crazy whenever i held out standy's, and once i got the flat spots out and free rode like normal they were almost unrideable again after about an hour. Buttery nice slide but such a waste of money and very overrated in my opinion.

Im keen on getting some early swampy's or bluey's. Do they go alright in the free ride kind of things?

Learn to slide properly

i rode mine for like 3 months and barely flatspotted them ..
i can slide properly
take that back must be how im sliding than

Slide across the road, not square

Yeah I only really get them from doing big standy's, like getting into the slide and holding it at 90 degrees for to long. I do 180's to get them out and they seem to be fine after that. Takes a while though. And whenever I go for a shut down slide I tend to pendy it to help get them out.

Thanks mate I think swampies are going to be the way to go when I get some money for them.

i have abec 11 freerides, i really like them, real slidey, hard to control but i havent flat spotted em yet at all. i think its got to do with weight aswell...

i got the retro freerides hope it wont be that bad too..

Retros just don't wear away... and as for standies, try and hold it just past 90, so you will be sliding across the road.  Holding any wheel at 90 will flat spot it, just ask hugh about the 101a park wheels that have half an inch missing from one slide :p

I found that they work well.  Great for taking down mild DH runs, but are also fine to whip around corners at slower speed.  Deffinately something to have lying around when all your other wheels are gone

For some odd reason my wheels last me ages. I must be really light on my feet or something, I dont leave thane lines where other people do, and my wheels dont cone much. Everyone is different. We all skate differently. Just cos one person likes a wheel, doesnt mean another will get on with the same wheel. I like zigzags, but cant stand freerides. I dont like anything Otang makes. I got a mate who wont ride anything but kryptos. At the moment Im loving a set of black moska wheels, must be the strongest urethane on the planet, Ive had them for years, they were 65mm when new, and are just less than 60mm now, I shred the life out of them, they are my slide wheels, never flat spotted em, and they are still round.

its all in how you skate. Flat spots can be avoided with any wheel if you learn how to use it. all wheels are different. I can get away with anything on the Moskas, but other wheels will flat spot, or egg. So you didnt get on with freerides? well now you know you dont have to buy them again.

Watch this video- really good tutorial for avoiding them darned flatspots :)
