You wont be disappointed. The Bell Drop is a great helmet. Really easy to make a visor for as well.
where did you find lexan??

dave
I used polycarb sheeting I think. It was leftover from the schools pedal prix bike... It was pretty thick stuff. You'd probably have to buy it from a specialist..

I used polycarbonate sheeting to make a visor. You can buy it from Bunnings by the metre. I haven't figured out how to cut it neatly though - my visor's a bit ragged, but it seems to work.
You should be able to cut polycarbonate with scissors. Get a piece of paper wrap it around the helmet draw an outline of the visor area allowing an extra 2cm all around. Cut the paper out and trace onto polycarbonate, cut the poly with scissors wrap around helmet and mark with to accurate with artline marker. Visor should bend to fit about 8mm inside and between the outer shell and inner foam liner to become airtight. fire up the stove gas or electric and place a metal skewer or compass or smell screwdriver on it until very hot (do not heat inside toaster) and poke a series of holes in front of mouth and nose right on the bottom edge of the visor to avoid steam up.

You will now be 5-10kms faster on a hill, will not be crying tears at the end of every run and will eat less bugs on those early morning sessions
If possible as a starter helmet go for any full face BMX helmet. You will ride with more balance and will avoid the serious whiplash on the neck that often come with crashing in a full moto helmet

So what you are saying is,... Im gonna get whiplash?
Law of physics ... Mass x Speed = Force
600gm helmet against 1.5kg at said speed will reduce force from helmet on the brain by over 50%, take into account the weight of you head say 4.5kg which will then total 6kg with the above equation = 126 Newtons of force which is like someone dropping a 13kg rock on your head which won't scratch you because of the helmet but will bounce your brain and knock you out.

In saying that I would ride with a moto helmet over a skid lid any day but if given the choice between a full face moto or BMX helmet I would use the BMX everytime. Its not about getting whiplash its about minimising risk where you can. Wearing a fullface of any kind will minimise risk, wearing a lighter full face will lower risk of whiplash
