At 6' it started to feel really hard and fast about half way through. At the start it was easy, and then at the end the slope flattens out a bit and it seemed easier except for tiredness/concentration problems, but the middle section was absolutely nuts.
thanks bugs ! my thoughts are 100 cone spacing should be the same all the way for rythym ! 100 cones is hard to keep that pumping fluid all the way takes heaps of practice ! you could set it at 7 ft all the way more people would make it but it would feel slow , and you would never break any records ! but if its just for fun it doesnt realy mater ! if it is realy quick in the last 25 cones maybe 6 ft 3 inches all the way! just that little bit extra helps ! but thats just my opinion !
It's very gentle. Not flat, but very gentle. Can pump back up the hill the whole way if you're fit. Smooth, fast surface.
how much of a slope is it Bugs !
There's no official cone spacing for 100 cone challenge - it can be whatever, and it can change throughout the course. A couple of years ago I set a 6' course, and it was very hard to do - no matter how slowly you tried to go you ended going a little too fast to stay in the course.
Maybe 5.5 to start, gradually lengthening to 7', and then maybe coming back to 6' at the end?
1.2 m !!! wow thats tight ! sounds fun Scotty !
This is getting close already!!
Here's what we are doing and some ideas around the event on Saturday:
Dual lane slalom as always. The plan is to get this done and dusted quickly as possible so we can also run some different and fun events. The last two years have seen us battle weather (sleet) and lack of timing systems which left us with no time for the 100 or any other kind of event. If all goes well we will have plenty of time and also some time to go to the Bowl Jam at Belco.
100 cone challenge - same as last time:
- $1 in the pot per run or 5 runs for $3 with a MAXIMUM of 5 runs
- MUST do all 100 cones, knock over a cone and the run doesn't count
- ASRA dudes, what was the official cone spacing? 1.2m?
- winner takes the pot.
There is a minor issue about running the 100 cone at the same time as the other race which was put up as an idea as we'll have Bernie's timer. We are sharing the track with another group who will be at the bottom half of the track, so I think the other side can be set up for practice but won't be long enough for 100 cones in a straight line without using part of the bottom half.
My preference in any case is NOT to have two races running at the same time anyway, the 100 cone is just great fun to watch and take part in as it is a real challenge just to make the course, so if it runs while the main race ran, people will miss out.
The other one was an old school race. This is harder to define and didn't really fly the last time we put it out there. By all means, bring the old boards with the intention to race them, and we'll see what sort of turn out we get, what sort of boards people bring, and decide on the day. A loose ruling would be bearings, bolts and bushes can be new, the rest is OG or an accurate re-issue/replica of OG.
The bowl jam being at 1pm might not be viable considering we usually finish late arvo then do our raffles and stuff at 7ish.
I believe we are going to head to the bowl after racing on Saturday and they already know about the ditch I think :)
Scotty I got my Senior First Aid and will be there both days.
Let me know what we can do
