If we have between 65 and 80 riders we'll use this spreadsheet to run the race:

Ian, your ASRA membership expires on June 30 of the year after you joined/renewed. So yours will expire on June 30, 2011. All good for MotH.

The list of ASRA members is here, and you're on it.

Had a chat to Trav today, and we nutted out the details of the format. Here 'tis:

There will be a maximum of 80 riders. First in first served when it comes to rego on the morning.

Qualifying
Everybody will do one timed qualifying run. These times will be used to seed everybody into one of four groups (if 64 riders or less) or five groups (if between 65 and 80 racers). I'll assume 64 or less for the rest of this explanation.

Round-robin
The four groups of 16 will be seeded so that they contain equal numbers of fast and slow riders, based on the qualifying times. For example, Group 1 will contain the following seeds:
rider 1
rider 8
rider 9
rider 16
rider 17
rider 24
rider 25
rider 32
rider 33
rider 40
rider 41
rider 48
rider 49
rider 56
rider 57
rider 64

Each rider in the group will race 5 rounds against the other members of their group. This is enough to race everybody in your group exactly once. Points will be awarded for your place in each race, and tallied up.

Open Finals
The top two from each group go into 2 x 4-man semi-finals as such:

Semi A
Group 1: 1st
Group 2: 2nd
Group 3: 2nd
Group 4: 1st

Semi B
Group 1: 2nd
Group 2: 1st
Group 3: 1st
Group 4: 2nd

If there is a tie for any of the placings it will be determined by who beat who in the round-robin heats. If for some reason the tied riders didn't race each other (theoretically impossible) the tie will be solved by the rider's qualifying time.

Junior Finals
The eight juniors with the most points from the round-robin heats will form 2 x 4-man semi-finals. If there is a tie between places it will be determined by qualifying time.

Semi A
1st
4th
5th
8th

Semi B
2nd
3rd
6th
7th

Women's Finals
Same as Juniors Finals.

Spreadsheet
Here's the spreadsheet that we'll probably use:
