The second annual Collingrove Cup will be held at the Collingrove Hillclimb track, Angaston South Australia on October 29th - 30th 2011.

The Track
Although it’s only 800m long the narrow technical track will be sure to test the skill and patience of many of the countries best downhill racers over 2 days of racing.

Disciplines and Format

All disciplines will be catered for including Downhill skateboard, Classic luge, G-Bike and Streetluge. The format will be:

  • $100 rider rego fee (see below for more details)
  • 100 entries only
  • 2 man elimination rounds over 2 days
  • Race to qualify
  • $$$$$$$ CASH PRIZES$$$$$$$
  • Trophies, prizes and more!

Standup will have Pro division (over 18) and Junior division (under 18yrs) but please note that you can only race in one division not both for standup.

*Groms Take Note*
This year will be different than last year in the fact that we are stepping it up and trying to make the event flow quicker and give more track time to riders, so by doing this ALL disciplines will be using the full track.

IGSA RULES APPLY

Registration will open on July 6th at 7pm (SA time) and close at midnight October 16th 2011. All entry fees must be paid before this date, if not pay on the day is available but will be $150.

With over 200 skaters in Adelaide alone this event is sure to sell out fast so get in quick to secure your spot. This is a legal event on a closed road with ambos, shuttle buses, food, drinks, music and the Cre8ive Sk8 air fence will be in action too!

SA CREW TAKE NOTE! We are planing at least 1 training day at the track between now and October to give some of the younger guys and beginners a go at the track. Stay tuned for an announcement on dates for this!

See you on the hill!!!

yeh the amount of riders dropping out due to injury would of also added to the complexity of things for the number crunchers.

all the volunteers did an awesome job with what they were assigned with.

totally agree matty, all of you HAVE ran awesome events before, and only the non dedicated lose faith bro.

weve crossed way bigger hurdles before,.its just a race,..they had their share of problems at tarma also on the same weekend, proving racing anywhere can be testing times for all involved

matty, sakamoto said it was for a way to get the newer riders with more hill time, no one understood that he meant, rigging people through the tree. thats where many people became upset.

There were good intentions in the way the format was designed. All of the officials did their best,... they were volunteers, and also we found ourselves in roles we didn't expect to be in. All of the volunteers are people I would work with again, and I would hate for you guys to lose faith in us, because we CAN run an awesome event.

I can understand the feelings of the riders, and we can learn from this too. Format has got to be clear for sure. I like the idea of a whiteboard or something for the riders to see the results. Even if we just project the laptop screen running the spreadsheet Bugs has got for us.

We have to be able to re-adjust the rider list as people drop out too. Easily. (I'm sure your system deals with that Bugs.)

I think also, after seeing most of you on the Sunday, that 2 days racing was pretty tough. Some were injured, some were sick,.... most of you looked depleted. Its tough to get through so many riders when its 2 at a time. But you guys were so orderly on the Saturday that we probably could have run ALL of the races and finished before sundown. So, well done!

Personally, this event has made me think that I like Outlaws (ahem- Grass Roots races) more and more.

I want to thank all of you guys for a great weekend (I enjoyed myself, but I was oblivious to the issues you guys were facing).

The main thing that got to alot of people as benbro said was that almost everyone was left in the dark and had no idea of where they were in placings or where we were in terms of which round we were at. So basically we were just doing what we got told, and there were mix ups in communication which just got very messy and stuffed up the formats

As somebody who wasn't there, but who is obviously very interested in how things went, I'm happy for people to give their two cents on what happened, as long it's not a mindless "it was fukd!" type of criticism, which just wastes space and inflames people. People aren't doing that here, which is good.

Obviously there were some problems, and I don't think it's healthy to sweep them under the rug. As a race organiser myself I like to learn what went right and what went wrong so I can incorporate those lessons myself. And I'm especially interested in race formats, having devised a few myself.

we did try to sort it out on the day, but we were ignored.

also how was the format not unusual? if you lost the second heat you were out for good, whether or not you won your first heat and every other heat from the day before. how does that make any sense?

no need to apologise leigh,we all had a great time in radelaide.

theres ups and downs with every trip away and this time it was the last day of racing that things were dissapointing,i feel that in the end we sort of got a result,(top 4)anyway,the other placings is anyones guess as to how it ended up..but i can understand everyone else involved in the events, dissapointment, dont think ive ever seen anyone get disqualified at a D/H race, but there were a few riders d/q for minor incidents, there were also a few heats that had to be re-run because a desicion was apparently unclear.  Then there was the total confusion with with the format, noone knew what was happening, some riders were given a second chance were other riders were knocked out as soon as they lost.

Everyone for a while thought it was a standard double elimination format, the same as when we used to run 2 men at moth.,therefore some riders chose not to put there safety on the line trying to make a dangerous pass and use their first chance to avoid injury and continue on in the losers side, they were disappointed to find out they were eliminated.

for a while i thought i was on to what was happening, first rd was dble elim, then after that was sudden death, lose and your out, this is how it went until we got to the final 8,then kelly wasnt even included in the draw after winning allday, after a quik re adjustment of the books, kelly was back in and matt cassar took the fall, stepping out ,feeling kelly was more deserved....??yeh i kno, sounds crazy,.in the semi,i beat kelly and hepple beat raine k...final went down and hepple won, then kell won the consi for 3rd...and we thought the day was over, but they then called kelly and mark up for another final?????noone new wat was happening so up the boys went to race, kelly won that and got his hopes up,mark and everyone was like wtf,i won ' and then theres me asking why kell gets a 2nd chance after being knocked in semi,.a decision was made that an extra heat was run and the results went back to how things panned out of the top 8 elimination finals, minus the last mystery heat..

i can confidently say that race to qualify doesnt work with head to head racing, especially when theres only 4 race to qual heats,it doesnt seperate the field enough......and the only format for head to head is double elim,..this would of made it tooo easy and everyone knows and can understand where there at.

and another tip for anyone holding a race,..Clarity,dont keep competitors in the dark about everything they should kno, have a central point were riders can go to,check the board, know when there racing and with whom, this saves race organisers being pestered by groms and confused adults wanting to know everything...and a main man/woman whos in control and whos word is final.

i personally find it hard to concentrate on my riding when things are so unsettled on race day.

huge thanx to all the volunteers that devote their time to holding races for us,the riders respect your efforts,..lack of communication and clarity is the lessons that need to be learned from this event.

the format got totally fucked up when everyone jumped in and started telling the officials how it should've been. While the format was unusual, it wasn't that difficult to understand - the reason people got eliminated was because they lost their heat after the second round (the losers from the first round only went into the losers/repercharge bracket).

It would've been so much better if people were able to sort this out at the track on the day, bitching on the internet 3 days after the event isn't going to change anything. Personally, I hope the results can be turned into something useful
