Rules/ Guidelines

  • In order to compete, riders must be wearing a helmet and slide gloves and are highly advised to wear the respective protective gear i.e. Knees and elbow. Please note Helmet and Slide Gloves are compulsory, no exceptions.
  • Riders are participating at their own risk, in no way are the event organisers, sponsors or local community representatives responsible for riders actions. A compulsory form must be filled out at registration, consenting that you understand the risk and are competing at your own risk.
  • Clean up after yourselves. Don't leave rubbish on the ground, this event is for you and the Sunshine Coast longboarding scene. The main objective of the event is to show that longboarders aren't out to seek and cause trouble in the community. So we are trying to communicate that we are trying build a better connection between the community and longboarders. So by cleaning up after yourselves, this will ensure residents in the street stay happy.
  • Sunscreen is also highly advised, sunburn is never fun and skin cancer isn't either! So plaster it on and stay sun safe.
  • Keep hydrated. We will try our best to provide water on the day, but make sure you do bring your own water bottle and a snack to eat. There is a cafe/shop about 5 mins skate from the bottom so you can go there during the day, but it is always best to bring a little something of your own.

Thanks guys and girls

This day should be great and is only possible because of you too! Shred hard and don't forget, always wear a helmet!

Shaunel Narain it was moved to a race at hill climb as the cops were too aware of the event and were going to act on the first inkling that a comp was being held on a residential street.

With the weather as it is, I'm uncertain of whether the event will go ahead. I will make that decision tomorrow and update everyone. But as for the event layout, keep reading.

So the start time says 9:30 and this is because I am allowing around an hr from then for registration and once rego is done there will be a 30 min gap where we will be getting ready for the racing.

Races will commence at around 11 (possibly a little bit after as the bus will be arriving at 11 to take the first lot of skaters up to the top) and there will be 4 skaters to a race to help keep track of the winners and to also ensure a fair race system.

Races will alternate going:
- Uber Groms
- Groms
- Opens

The first 2 of each race will progress into the next round, so on until the finals. I aim to try and have 4 skaters in each final of the corresponding events, though this will all depend on the amount of people on the day.

Remember that there will be other users on the track, (Bikers, walkers, dropbears) so be friendly and try your best not to hit any of them, I know it can be hard at times, but try your best!

Michael Bushnell has organised to bring along some sandwiches and drinks on the day and they will be available to buy at the bottom for $1 each. I will also be organising some food & drinks as well which will also be for sale for a $1.

When not competing try your best to not all crowd on the road down the bottom. When you are getting off the bus at the top, please do so quickly to ensure that it is a quick and efficient process and no hold ups are encountered.

After registration is complete, the tent/gazebo will be free for you to place any personal belongings underneath, such as bags, boards ect.

Keep offensive language to a minimum as there will be parents around and other members of the public.

If you have any questions just ask below or if you think I missed anything let me know.

Thanks everyone! :)

So for the certainty of the event, it is now a race day. If people are interested in having a slide jam, we will have to organise something proper later in the year, and make it huge with the proper permits and special judges and everything.

So the comp will now be held as a race day at Hill Climb and I understand that for some this will be boring and you were wanting a slide jam but I'm not willing to risk getting a fine for hosting an even in a residential street.

A slide jam in a residential street just isn't possible because their is always going to be people complaining and the cops come and shut it down. This way, by holding it at Hill Climb we'll at least be able to go the whole day without being closed down.

THE EVENT HAS BEEN MOVED TO; BRAEMAR RD, BUDERIM QLD 4556. THIS WAS DUE TO POLICE ISSUES WITH THE LAST PLACE.
THIS HILL LOOKS LIKE IT COULD BE VERY FUN AND IF THE POLICE SHOW UP, WE'LL JUST MOVE UP THE ROAD TO THE NEXT STREET.

So I just received a call from the Palmwoods Police Station saying they have received a complaint from one of the residents about the event. He said that because of this, the event is going to have to go through the right measures in order to run properly. That means getting council approval and a permit from the police. This will most likely mean money and a heck of a lot of time to get this thing official.

So this will mean the event will have to either be put off until the time in which all of that is approved or we try and find another place, maybe a new estate with no houses in it yet with a mean as hill. So tell me what you think and if you know of a place that has no houses let me know.
