Yep there are only 5 guys from Sydney (well 4 but we claim Benny as our own) that are out bombing mountains and are serious about racing. The rest are people just getting into it and a ton of groms!

Jacko, are you serious, there are only 5 dh riders in Sydney? Who are all these guys posting up all the advice to newbies on ASRA? looks like a lot of talkers and very few doers. Sorry to hear that mate, I thought you guys had a healthy scene. Don't worry I'll be hasslin' the Goldy crew to come down and kick some cockroach arse (;-)>

Both Tim and Ado are right, this event is the beginning of a very large picture of legitimate races. The Snowy's is primo hill country, and Bomb the Snowies is the door opener for coming years. At great event this year on this hill, and next year who knows what can be offered by the organisers. As Tim openly said, it's not Newton's quality hill, but it's two days, fast, plenty of runs and it's legitimate with solid medical backup, so no chance of it getting shut down with bad media opportunities.

Get your name down and pay your money, guys, and be part of the "door opener" for the Snowies for coming years.

Crew aren't keen because of the hill. Yes it looks straight. Yes it looks rough. Yes it does seem like a bit of money for an average hill, but when u say lack of Sydney riders that's only because 1 is out due to injury and the other will be in Cali, the rest of us will be there, which is a total of 3. That's still a small number compared to how many riders are in other states, but whatever if it's a rough shit road we will still come race it and race it faster than the rest!

Amongst other things its worth a bucket load of points in the Downhill Rankings. As other smaller events become oversubscribed organisers may use these rankings to run priority and invite lists for events. It would be handy to be on that list

I've had a top time organising this little event, lots of hard work, a solid crew, and support from my local community. Sometimes it does get a bit anal. I try to ignore those times where possible. I know from experience how difficutit is to get here by public transport. Thats why the bus idea from Canberra. At no expense to the riders. The wet nurse finishes here. Those who have got on board, "straight rough road" or not, are going to race on a race track. They are going to go fast, might win a prize and as Ado said, become part of a bigger picture. It's LEGAL, it's ON, it's NOT Bathurst. We've got a good contest in a good arena and i'm past excuses. if you're coming; good. if you're not, i don't care.

Every race is an elimination, that's how races work. There was a discussion about wanting 4 man heats and Riff changed to allow it yet still they don't come. This is the first year of this event and if crew want it to be a regular event on maybe a better and more technical road they have to show up and race so next year Riff will want to go through all this again and maybe the council will approve a different road. That isn't going to happen if noone shows this year.

There will be plenty of time for runs down the hill even if you do get eliminated from the race.

Again, someone makes an enormous effort to get a real legit event happening and crew just find excuses. I don't know why anyone bothers!

Could be to do with the elimination format too?
