Hi, You make what seems a valid observation. The current price is probably too high for beginners. Most of our customers are already longboarders who purchase the truck set to add to their existing deck or to another deck of their choice. The smaller numbers that buy a complete would include parents/partners providing a Brakeboard as a gift.

Most Brakeboarders seem to be commuters in areas with other traffic, although quite a few want to try them for downhill runs. Because brakes are not currently legit in racing events, the new model has a removable pedal.

Price is a problem because we are currently manufacturing in batches of 1000. If numbers increase, we can bring the price down.

As you mentioned, most of the action is in the US which accounts for 50% of our sales. Includes many states -  from Alaska to Hawaii.

Thank you for you interest.

breakboard.

seems like a high-end product aimed at the entry level market. most people that cannot slow down / stop at will are new riders that will generally get a cheapish set up. i dunno how to say it with out sounding like a hater , its just an observation.

The product seems a bit gimmicky , like grombiz trucks, i can see you've put shed loads of effort into the product and it looks smart. Im just not sure the price point matches the market, especially in the US were the real action is and products are a lot cheaper.

Having said that i realise this is a core skater community and I may have well missed the mark on demand for breakboard.

Plus the primary reason people jump on a skatey is the bust out mega power-slides.

Brakeboard Pty Ltd, the company with an innovative braking system for longboards, has just released its new-look product in gleaming combinations of black, red and silver.

The new color choices are not the only changes. After a successful campaign on the US fundraising site Kickstarter last year, Brakeboard has made numerous improvements to its braking system, trucks and wheels including a removeable pedal.

In detail the new model has:

Fixed-in kingpins for better stability and strength.

High grade bushes are supplied but users can now also choose a range of other commercially available bushings.

Lower brake levers for better clearance on drop-through decks.

Weight reduction in rear brake hanger.

Easier assembly and tuning adjustments.New regular front truck with greater strength.

In addition, Brakeboard’s new wheels are . . .

74mm white, high grade urethane. 83A

Stone ground surface

Now with a custom nylon core for easy brake fitting and better bearing fit.

Most buyers choose the Brakeboard boxset, smartly presented in its own aluminium carry-case with tools, designed to install on any deck. While almost any wheels can be used when modified with notches, Brakeboard has its own pre-notched wheels available.

I don't think Steve would mind if i drop this here...

"Hi Mike,
...Had a timber supply problem due to the qld floods. In the meantime we have been trying out some new materials, which are looking very promising.

I have also been flat out with my real job unfortunately so we are still a few months away from production. Sorry for the inconvenience. Keep an eye on the FP thread for more details in the coming months"

cheers Steve

I'm down with that. Obviously a little research is going down as well so if i hang out for a bit, a better product may come my way!

Mmm...Now, what should i get to tide me over...Glyde or Skatement????

Must admit that i'd love to get a home grown quiver organised with a deck from everyone!

Cool. I'm looking for a drop through drop deck at the moment - the '1 board for all' thing.

Looked at some Daddow's and Early's but they aren't quite grabbin' me...

Looks to be a very subtle drop of the deck???

That looks pretty sweet, beet.

Is it a Freeride 2.0?
