Has anyone got any experience they would like to share in constructing Bamboo decks? I'm talking type of bamboo sheet - dimesions, thickness, vert-lam, how do you approach the lay-up, etc. I'm thinking of giving it a try. Apart from China imports, is there a AUS distributor that is small quantity friendly?

Witch doctor have you been using angle layer bamboo veneer or bamboo ply?
$4 a sheet man, works soo well though
quick question for you Adam, do you laminate graphics on a cloth print onto your boards?

Good job finding 2 mm stuff and it's the horizontal lam. Jealous much.
What's it cost a sheet?
Well i have a big fail with the block stave ,looked great, lasted two turns then fell to bits . The bamboo was 25mm x 10mm
Think i know what i did wrong, will try again, got a wood deck from the 70s that is wood done the same way and its lasted 40 years ,but its twice as thick and half as long your going to wait a bit longer for pics
hey guys, im looking in to buying some bamboo but im not sure which one i will need.
i have no idea what the different types mean (eg. wide grain, carbonised, narrow grain, natural ).
i'm looking to make a stiff topmount with no flex, i will most likely carbon fibre it.
i already have a roarockit kit, just need the wood. if someone could tell me what i need to ask plyco for then that would be very helpful and also appreciated. all i know is that i need enough for 2 decks and that im looking for 1.5mm thick.
im located in the mordialloc area aswell. thanks !
hey jordy, bamboo ply on its own wont exactly help stiff your board much, but the bamboo I have ordered is the narrow grain one from plyco and they also do 1.5mm thick. The board I am currently making also has birch ply and also some carbon fibre and fibre glass, because after going through a few dummy runs, just bamboo and carbon fibre is around flex 3. If you are not sure about what to ask plyco, you can always ring them up, email or send a quote because thats what I did awhile ago when I was not sure.
also jordy, look for vert-lam bamboo, not bamboo ply.
