ASRA - Australian Skateboard Racing Association

OK folks, we're back after just a three-day break. The ASRA team has landed in Bathurst, and despite advance warnings of how cold it is we've still been surprised - it's brutally cold. My first task here was to buy some fingerless gloves and a very attractive hat:

Once suitably warmed we got settled into our luxury digs before heading out for some twilight mini-ramp action at the festival site. It's a 6' ramp, so more of a maxi-mini really, and it took its toll with Trav and Haggy taking some hard slams.

A blurry Trav heads for the coping, while Haggy, Blackwood, Pete and the Van of Love look on

Yes, it was cold up there. Bring your woolies. See you tomorrow. Rider check-in starts at midday at the Flannery Skillset Centre.

Hi where can I find a schedule for Saturday & Sunday

To everybody racing today, I wish you all the best of luck.

Race safe but ride hard!

Give that adrenal gland the workout of its life! :)

We're up on top of the mountain, and it's cold, and riders are milling around, and everybody is asking "when do we start?" and I keep answering "when the track is ready", and I don't know exactly when that is but it should have been 15 minutes ago.

Here's the fog over Bathurst this morning:

First thing this morning will be two runs of skateboard practice. Striker is doing commentary from down at Forest Elbow this morning after complaining all yesterday about being stuck at the start line. Boo hoo Striker! But you got your way after the ASRA crew spent yesterday evening buying the gear to make it possible, and then scrambling around in the bush during the night to install it all.

Keen as! Sitting at my desk at work hoping it dosnt get busy so I can watch.

I know you can't give a definate time Bugs, but what time do you expect Luge and Classic to run this afternoon, if everything goes well with the standups?

Bloody freezing up ere!...lol.. :)

Watch out Striker. I'd like the job you're doing today. ;)

Practice has just begun.

Sakamoto, any time I give will almost certainly be wrong. I've been telling people "lunchtime" which is suitably imprecise.

This is all that's keeping my spirits up today. So thanks heaps.
I had the courage to open up te MRI report last night.
PCL has a "complete transection";^(
Complex tear I the posterior medial meniscus oblique and vertical components extending into the inferior meniscal surface.
Small subchrondral fracture to the inferior pole of the patella.
Bummer.

Wear your knee pads kids.
Sorry just venting to other skate people.
Be safe, be very fast.

Understandably hard, but appreciate the approximate time. Thanks Bugs.

The live feed has begun, and everybody has had their two practice runs. Now Norman Kinnish will convene his own safety meeting.

The last few riders having their practice run

Cooper, Josh, Ian and Merrick

yeah I love safety meetings....
