ASRA - Australian Skateboard Racing Association

I am interested in learning about some good spots for recreational cruising / carving. I'm in the Eastern suburbs of Melbourne (Doncaster). I've just taken up longboarding and I've been practicing in the local council's car park (good spot). Looking for some new hills to try.

Westerfolds park also has some good smooth tracks
Welcome andrew, I am involved with Melbourne Oldskool Skate Sessions, every sunday arvo we meet and tight slalom G.S the following week we do a drain with a speed arvo the next leaving the last sunday of the month for a masters series, you will find a forum called going coning sunday arvo, under sessions on the web sight charlie dont skate, we average 10 to 15 crew each week and growing, knocking of work now, will chat more later.
Thanks guys. I'll have a look at Westerfolds. I'll keep an eye on the forums too. I don't think I'll be racing (too old and can't afford to get injured) but great to see you guys getting organised. At 47 y.o. would I be the oldest? No pics of the council car park, but it is outdoors, just asphalt, but you get a nice run of about 100m. Nice and wide. I'll try to get a photo. Cheers. Andrew.
Thanks Mark. Please put me on your email list (if you have one). alack1960@yahoo.com.au.

we dont race andrew, we just work on PB,s and stoke ourselfs and encourage each other, most sunday arvo,s we talk shit for 3 and roll for one by the time we walk back up the hill which is were the stamina is really needed, turned 44 on saturday and just got the fire in the belly like the rest of us and it, never quite went out, all Moss,s are over 30 and average 40+ all the way to 60 odd, this occurs state to state, everyone is just keen on the individaul expressing themself and doing what they want to do, and glad to shake your hand and have a chat, jump in you will be welcomed by a top bunch of broard and diverse gentlemen. passionate should have gone in there somewhere. Andrew, I'm 47 so don't worry about how old you are, just get out and skate.

All the MOSS sessions, whether they be bowl slalom or ditch or whatever are all fun and it's about participation rather than how rad or fast you skate. Stay within you limits and just enjoy the sessions.

I live in Ocean Grove so I dont get to a lot of the sessions as sundays is family day, although 3 of us skate, the one who doesnt likes to spend time with us as she works on Saturdays, but as Mark says check www.charliedontskate.com.

cheers, Fletch
Andrew Carribean again this Sunday at 12.00, check Moss Masters at jams on Charlie.

hey i live in Rosanna and go to Westerfolds a lot with my friends who also skate. we have practacly just started skating and would love to skate with someone new. if you go down on a week end you will meet a lot of new people cos it is a really good longboarding park with long hills steep hills long steep hills and most have a roll off(if your not very good at sliding)

westerfolds has some of the best runs, early in the morning before you need to do pedestrian slalom.

speaking of slalom, bottom car-park would be good if we could book it.

wow, i didnt know there were other longboarders at westerfolds. Me and a friend always go there to practice sliding, we go to the drive way that leads up to mia mia house. If you ever see thane lines on that hill, its probably ours. Of course, to not get people angry we always get off the road if we see a car. We should meet up there together and ride. I have seen a couple of guys there on tiny boards, and they bombed that hill, which took guts, was that any of you?

we should definatly have a sesh there
