Misconception

afternoon all, I just wanted to share a little safety story to remind everyone about how much you have to loose and how easy it can be to have your life changed by accidents, as emotional as this sentence sounds my accident was only minor but mind opening.

less then 2 hours before posting this blog I was cruising along Kotara sidewalk towards the westfeild on my, Landyatchz evo, added with bear trucks and yellow in heat o'tangs as an accident was caused by what I would only use one word to explain. MISCONCEPTION. I was riding downhill about 10m before a driveway leading to the main 3 lane road, as I noticed a small car coming down the driveway. Now anyone smart and safe would have stopped to see what happened next but as i was in the skating mood i gambled the fact she was at the top of the 10m driveway.

From previous times riding passed there the traffic on the main road is usually making it difficult for the driver to get back on to the main road so most drivers will happily less a pedestrian pass as they wait for a chance to go, but in this case the driver did not see me and had continued down the driveway.
By now had 3 choices come into mind. 1. take my chances pushing and maybe the car may miss me. 2. Bail off the board and hope for best but loose the board under car. 3. last of all swerve and hope for best.

as this was a freak accident i chose to swerve and cross my fingers. this choice only lead to me being hit by the car my body falling on to the far left lane of the main road and my landyatchz going into oncoming traffic and being crushed by a buss, i stood up got off the road and found myself only with
: 3 scratches 1 big bruise on my leg and a really hot chick hugging me asking if i was ok.



so to conclude my story don't take chances my longboarding friends, look out for traffic, watch for blinkers, when going downhill wear padding, if the hill has side streets, use a mate as a spotter to see if its clear or not, be safe not sorry.
