ASRA - Australian Skateboard Racing Association

For those who ride bowls (or just like to watch) there's an old-school bowlriding comp at Galston Skatepark on Anzac Day (April 25) that ASRA has lent some behind-the-scenes support to. Click the pic below for details.

"SALUTE" the Masters Comp, ANZAC Day 25th April 2009

Galston Park Skatepark, Galston Road, Galston Park, Sydney, NSW
and
Dural Hotel, New Line Rd. Dural, Sydney, NSW

We shall be running "SALUTE" the Masters Comp on Anzac Day as a sign of tribute to the older riders within skateboarding and to honour those skateboarders no longer with us. It is important that as a culture we spend some time looking back and remembering those who came before us and created the fantastic lifestyle we all benefit from today.

EVENT RULE N0. 1: Have fun! Everything about this event will be tailored toward everyone who is there having as fun a day as possible. All event schedules, workings and functions shall be structured in such a way that they run with minimum fuss and maximum fun.
SOS will be trying out the old head to head format for the bowlriding ( a sort of 2-up game for ANZAC day ? ) and then we have 5 extra events to remember BORGY, HOFFY, KENNY, ONE-T AND FIN.
We will also be pausing for 1 minutes silence at 12 midday to "SALUTE" THE MASTERS and to remember our fallen bro's.

The after party will be at The Dural Hotel who have provided us with our own private bar for the evening ;"The Blue Tile Lounge". This part of the festivities starts from 7pm. There will be the awards, a trivia competition "SKATEWIZ", some old skate videos, music and a big night of back slapping and ear bending.

The rumours are true, there is some free accommodation for Old School skate contestants. The accommodation will be provided to the furthest travelled first and then accordingly allocated. Although the accommodation is free you will need to provide a credit card security for your room and although we are all older and should know better; treat the place like you would your grandmothers, they have been very generous to us so we in turn should be respectful to them.

DON'T FORGET WHY WE STILL DO THIS AT OUR AGE: BECAUSE IT IS... STILL FUN !

SOS are running the competition. There is a $20 entry fee for competitors for 1 or all events. Awesome trophies and loads of prizes. There is a full info thread at www.charliedontskate.com
