Doing an assignment for uni and got to choose the topic so I chose my one love.
I need to do research though so I'm wondering if yous can help me out.
Just tell me what got you involved in skating to begin with and what makes you live your life by it?

I started skating my shorty in high school, just because everyone else was and it was something to do on the weekend, but never took it too seriously. Got into downhill because I love going fast and when I looked up videos and saw people sliding it blew my mind. I keep doing because nothing beats that rush you get when you perfectly rail a corner, nail that slide or hit a new top speed.
I started to have a way to get to the bus stop and uni, going on a bus ruled out a bike, and scooters, well I used to have one back in the days but they are for little kids really...
Eventually bought a big soft wheel cruizer after finding out they go faster then a longboard after doing downhill on the cruizer for about 6 months.
I keep doing it because it had become my number one form of transport, it is fun and you can take it on busses, in shops, store it in lockers and I love going fast.
except me, couldn't surf to save my life!
maybe i skate because i cant surf?

Surfing. Its why everyone in the world skates
Skated years and years back as a school age kid and I gave it away, recently a friend suggested I take one of his longboards down a hill with him whilst in an inebriated state, since then it has become a never ending pursuit of adrenaline

that Surfers are responsible for skateboarding is a myth propegated by nostalgic surfers, and people who thought Dogtown was 'AWSOME' but actually had nothing to do with it. Skateboards (and skateboarding) has origins elsewhere that should not be ignored. The first skateboards actually came from scooters, and scooters have returned. the cycle of evolution is indeed a cycle.
Any way back on topic. I started skating cos I never got into it when I was kid, and I thought it looked loads of fun, so at the age of 24 I got my first board. Been into it ever since. Your either a skater or you're not. I dont think we have any choice in the matter. Concrete is more fun when you have a skateboard.
I started skating when I was 6, I stopped after a while.
Then started skating again, then I saw a Longboard.
And I'm like 'What the hell is this?'
And after a year or two, my mate got one. And I just got one.
And I've been addicted to it.
