yea gloves are a safety thing first and for sliding second, come off at speed with no gloves and you will destroy your hands.

I ride a Drifter Pintail, but I'm getting a BC Longboard or an apex 37 carbon.
I'll use gloves if I come.
I'm pretty new, I'm better at doing tricks and stuff. I've done a bit of downhilling.

yea man, if your new. maybe dont race, but come along for sure just have some fun you can have heeps of runs anyway and get the know the canberra crew

Its a race but you're more than welcome to just come along and watch/ meet a few other longboarders in canberra. there will be a bit of cruising and free riding but predominately racing. From what it sounds like you're reasonably new to the sport but even if you don't race you'll have a chance to meet some of those 'strangers'

How steep are the hills? Tell me where we're going (Not where we're meeting, where we're skating.). I'll check it out as well.
